One of the pleasures of building a hydrotherapy spa fully outside is that we don’t get complete control over the lighting department.

The sun does.

It moves across the water, throws shapes against the walls, disappears behind a cloud and returns somewhere else entirely. Meanwhile, you’re soaking in warm water with nowhere urgent to be.

We designed our thermal circuits. Calgary handles some of the finishing touches.

Travel light. Very light.

Bathing suit, robe, and sandals. That’s about all you need.

Your phone? It gets its own 105-minute retreat in your locker.

thermae eleven is a phone-free spa, which means once you step into the thermal circuits, there’s nothing to photograph, post, check, answer or scroll. Just warm and cool water, heat, fresh air and whoever you came with—or the rather excellent company of yourself.

And if you travel so light that your bathing suit gets left at home, we’ve got you. Swimwear from OAS Company is available for purchase in-spa. One less reason to turn the car around.

There’s the anticipation, the first gasp, and the brief questioning of your own decision-making.

And then comes the grin.

Hydrotherapy has a funny way of making you feel very present, very quickly. For a first-timer, that discovery can be half the fun.

Judging by this face, we’d say the introduction went rather well.

Turns out, aimless wandering has its place.

Our brains spend an extraordinary amount of time anticipating what comes next. Giving yourself a stretch of time without an agenda can ease some of that cognitive demand and make room for a different kind of attention: noticing what's happening now.

At thermae eleven, that might mean following the warmth, lingering over tea or going back to something simply because it felt good the first time.

No itinerary required, simply 105 minutes of letting the next thing wait.

We have thoughts about towels and textiles. Quite a few, actually.

The traditional spa towel is thick, fluffy and wonderfully plush. It’s also very good at holding onto water.

Lovely after one shower. Less lovely when you’re carrying it between pools, steam, sauna and rest—wrapped in the same increasingly damp towel.

So we went lighter.

Our spa towels are 100% linen: beautifully textured, highly absorbent and quick-drying. Our deep slate-blue bath towels are 100% cotton waffle—soft and absorbent, but airy rather than thick and heavy.

And our robes? Light enough to move in while comfortable enough to linger in. Exactly what you want between one temperature and the next.

Every textile was chosen for how hydrotherapy actually feels and flows: less fluff, more function, and absolutely lovely against bare skin.

The hot pool can linger in your memory—it doesn’t need to linger in your towel.
