Administered by Breaststrokes support services executive board. We represent all members of our not for profit organization. Our team consists of energetic, motivated, forward thinking women who have all experienced breast cancer first-hand. We paddle to support each other and to stay strong. The Breaststrokes Dragon Boat Team formed in Guelph, Ontario, Canada in 1998. From early days using broomsticks to paddle in a (dry) church basement, the team now has our own dragon boat moored on local lakes. The Breaststrokes team works hard to promote awareness of health, life and laughter after breast cancer. We celebrate life through the pursuit of fitness and wellness, mutual support, community philanthropy, and competition in Dragon Boat Festival races. We believe any person with breast cancer who wishes to dragon boat paddle should have that opportunity, because together, we are all winners! Our goal is to honour the memory of those who have died of breast cancer and spread a message of hope to all people living life after a breast cancer diagnosis.

Together we raise funds for invaluable as it has been proven over & over that early detection is key 🔑 to having options towards survivorship

🇨🇦 14 Breastrokers + loving Supporters traveled across the ocean in a welcoming of open arms with Dragons Abreast Australia 🇦🇺
The beauty & history of this country is surely something our eyes & hearts will ALWAYS remember. A trip of a lifetime. The event IBCPC Participatory Dragon Boat Festival 2026, the largest in its history put us to the test amidst the heat of the French sun ☀️ but we persevered. We walked, sang & waved our flags in the parade representing our homelands, ate all of the most incredible food, the pastries 🥐 , the ice cream 🍦 , shopped for souvenir jewellery crafted by local artisans 🛍️ & festival swag, but most of all we PADDLED HARD 🚣♀️ in the naturally forged glacier lake Aix-les-Bains & the bones we came home with a MEDAL around our neck🏅
🙌 We could not be more proud of the courage, strength 👊 and honour of our teammates. NEW FRIENDS MADE FROM NEAR & FAR + a photo album that is reminiscence of what postcards are made of. We are blessed
We are still in awe of how all this came together with so much hard work by all & the 500+ volunteers. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts 💕 until next time we will reflect & keep training for ourselves, our health, for community outreach & education, for our families & for those we have lost to . May .

🐲As we head into our last week of summer here in before joining our international sisters at the 2026 IBCPC Participatory Dragon Boat Festival, France 🇫🇷
This festival will welcome 4500 🎗️participants paddling 🚣 together in unison, strength and commaraderie. 14 of our Breaststrokes team members are teaming up with Dragons Abreast Australia 🇦🇺 welcoming us as their own paddle sisters.
All the practicing, fundraising& emotions will come to fruition as we set our paddles in Aix-les-Bains Lac du Bourget

It all began in 2011 with one woman, Geneviève Garreau, and a bold ambition: to create France's 2nd BCS team in Annecy (Les Drôles de Rames)
15 years later, her dream welcomes 4,500 paddlers from around the world. 🌸 🐉
In 10 days, the IBCPC France 2026 Festival opens its doors in Aix-les-Bains!

As we prepare for race day tomorrow, we'd like to extend our sincere thanks to Pittock Conservation Area - UTRCA and the City of Woodstock, Ontario for their continued support of the Woodstock Pharmasave Dragon Boat Festival.
Their partnership helps provide the beautiful setting that makes this event such a memorable day for racers, volunteers, and spectators alike.
