Dear clients,

I shared some news on Instagram this week. That post goes into more detail but I wanted to be sure you heard what’s happening too.

We sold our house. Which also means I’m closing my Hair Studio 😭

Thanks to every one of you for giving me the vibes I’d always wished for ✨ Thanks for supporting my small business. Thanks for trusting me with your hair and your stories. You’ve been so kind, so respectful and really made me feel like I was visiting with old friends.

You’re all THE BEST EVER!! Thank you!

*and ps: I’ll be opening another hair studio when we’re settled... one day soon!

Tousled softness ♡

Truly ♡

The first 2 photos are from Emma’s initial appointment. She told me she’d like A MILLION INCHES cut off! 🤗 Slight exaggeration... but the last photo emphasizes what a big change it was. Emma created the before/after herself & I just think it’s brilliant!

Sometimes, tbh a lot of times, hair is very sentimental to the wearer. I feel a real need to protect sensitive concerns like this. I’ll always do my best to listen and try to understand what’s important to my clients.

In October we revisited her shape and freshened up the tousled softness. Since then we’ve added more to frame her face - always evolving her ‘greatlengths’.

ps: I’m awful at posting haircut photos. Stockpiling them for waaay too long, I know. The first photos are from December last year 🙈

Some recent wonderful presences I’ve been graced with ✨✨✨✨✨ Pretty hair should move!!

Fringes make a big difference. I’ve always been fond of framing the face with flattering bangs. They just suit everyone; longer, shorter or in between ♡ ⁣

I was stoked when Rebekah asked for a fringe! The first time she came to see me was in June (𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝟸 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦&𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳). The thing is, it’s much more challenging to cut hair on a face that’s masked (cos of Covid). TBH in June, when I re-opened, it was an adjustment working with the new restriction of masks. Took about a month to get into the hang of it 🙊 So I’m grateful the initial obstacles are a thing of the past and now connections are growing & my haircut senses have grown too. ⁣

In between cuts Rebekah got highlights (𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘢 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘫𝘰𝘣!) so for this most recent shape I changed things up a bit. I feel like the curtain bangs balance really well with the face framing bits and slightly A-line textured lob. ⁣

Rebekah you’re truly someone who radiates sweetness - thanks for trusting me!! @ Lot 161 Hair Studio

70’s style hair FOREVERRRRR 😭

Photos from Lot 161 Hair Studio's post 10/06/2020

One of the things I’m most grateful for as a stylist is community connections. Like when someone special recommends me to another special ☺️ It’s such a good feeling to be thought of as a person you can trust with your hair! That’s exactly how Beth came to see me (thanks Rebekah!). She hadn’t had her hair cut in a year and the goal was to keep as much length as possible. After cutting a strong perimeter I dried it, then created texture by adding many slide & point cuts. One side needed extra weight removal because it was naturally heavier than the other side. As with faces, hair growth isn’t always symmetrical so cutting it the exact same on both sides isn’t necessarily the best course. Personalizing a haircut is everything!

It was such an honor working on her hair ♡ She’s a total sweetheart & joyful soul to be around... also how cool is it that she saw Stevie Nicks play live once?! At that point of the conversation I may have dropped to the floor - can you imagine??!

Reframed by bringing the fringe length back up & mixing scissor blunt perimeter with internal texture for increased movement. A few tiny fly-away bits that sometimes rest overtop the outline is something to celebrate rather than placate 😉 ⁣Wish the disconnected details around the ears were more visible but her mask is pretty to focus on too! ⁣

Thank you - you’re so patient with me while I play! ♡ @ Lot 161 Hair Studio

Curls come back to life after a proper haircut. (see how far these beautiful curls came - last photos show her before 🎭) Being able to leave your hair in its natural texture changes everything... for the better. Air dried, blow dried or whatever, it all works!

I gave her a trim on the length, because she wanted to keep as much as possible, but added long layers since most of the damage occurred on the top sections. All done with scissors except the long (to the cheekbone) curtain fringe I did with the razor.

Beginning a hair journey with someone is a thing I never take for granted. It feels really special to have clients place their trust in me to create a shape they love & look forward to styling themselves 🧡

Okay and isn’t her smile just the loveliest ever?!! Such a cutie! ✨ (video in previous post taken without mask on but we stayed distanced & I wore my mask) ✨

Encouraged movement to release her curl! 🤗

Loving Littles Blog has THE MOST hair!! She was ready to boost the length up a bit to help give her hair more flow & volume while removing heaviness. Reshapes like this keep the hair long but don’t look or feel weighed down, as well as encouraging lots of swing through deep point cuts. (2 before photos included)

Great conversation and loads of laughs, it was a real joy seeing you Keisha. So grateful you gave me the opportunity to work on your beautiful hair!

* i asked Keisha to take her mask off while i kept mine on just to take a few non-conversation photos from a distance *
