🥾 COCHRANE WALKING CLUB — GROTTO CANYON!

This Sunday, we’re heading out to Grotto Canyon near Exshaw for a beautiful hike through a spectacular canyon! 🏔️🌲

📅 Sunday, August 30
⏰ Meet at 8:00 a.m.
📍 Good Earth Coffeehouse, Cochrane
🚗 Carpooling: We’ll meet at Good Earth and carpool from there.

🥾 Grotto Canyon Trail
📏 Approximately 7 km return
⏱️ Allow about 2–2.5 hours
⛰️ Moderate hike with some rocky and uneven terrain.

The trail takes us through the canyon with beautiful mountain scenery, rock walls and a chance to see some of the fascinating pictographs along the way. It’s a great one to get out and enjoy the mountains without committing to a huge hike!

🐻 BEAR SAFETY:
As always in Kananaskis/Bow Valley, we need to be bear aware. Please bring bear spray if you have it, keep it accessible (not buried in your backpack!), and stay together as a group. We’ll make plenty of noise as we hike.

✔️ Water
✔️ Snacks
✔️ Bear spray
✔️ Layers — mountain weather can change quickly
✔️ Hiking poles if you use them

🥾 COCHRANE HIKING/WALKING CLUB – SUNDAY HIKE! 🥾

This Sunday we’re heading out to Paddy’s Flats in Kananaskis!

📍 Meet: Good Earth Coffeehouse Parking Lot, Cochrane
⏰ Time: 8:00 a.m.
🥾 Destination: Paddy’s Flats

Paddy’s Flats is a beautiful, relaxed Kananaskis hike with forested trails, mountain scenery and sections along the Elbow River. Expect a relatively easy outing with some gentle ups and downs — a great way to spend a Sunday morning outside with the group!

A few reminders:
• Wear good hiking shoes
• Bring water and a snack
• Dress in layers for changing mountain weather
• Bring sunscreen and bug spray
• Bear spray is a must
• Carpooling from Good Earth is encouraged

☕ And, as always, we can grab coffee afterwards!

IMPORTANT: If you haven’t hiked with our group before, please join us for one of our local Cochrane walks first. This gives everyone a chance to meet and helps us ensure the hiking pace and difficulty are a good fit.

🥾 SUNDAY HIKE – TROLL FALLS, KANANASKIS 🏔️

We’re heading back to beautiful Troll Falls for another Sunday adventure! This is such a gorgeous Kananaskis hike with waterfalls, forested trails and plenty of mountain scenery. 🌲

📍 Troll Falls – Kananaskis
☕ Meet at Good Earth – 8:00 a.m.
🚗 We’ll organize carpooling from there. Remember you will need a Kananaskis pass.

**A quick note for anyone new to our hiking group:
If you haven’t hiked with us before, we ask that you join us for one of our local Cochrane walk first before coming along on a mountain hike. This gives everyone a chance to meet, allows us to get a feel for hiking pace and ability, and helps keep our mountain outings safe and enjoyable for the entire group. There will be a local walk posted soon, and we are looking forward to meeting you. ❤️🥾

Heart Creek Love!! Look at this…..scenery!

🥾🌿 Heart Creek Trail — Sunday, August 9th 🌲

Please meet us at Good Earth at 8:00 a.m. We will organize carpooling from there before heading out to the trail. 🚗

Heart Creek Trail is a gorgeous and enjoyable route suitable for hikers of almost every ability. This relatively short trail winds through a beautiful mini canyon, where the sounds of rushing water and small waterfalls create a peaceful mountain atmosphere. Along the way, the trail zigzags back and forth across several man-made bridges, adding a little extra fun to the walk.

The trail is well maintained, easy to follow and not particularly technical or difficult. It is a wonderful choice for a scenic morning hike surrounded by stunning natural beauty. ⛰️
Please remember to bring:

🥾 Good hiking shoes
🦟 Bug spray
🧢 A hat and clothing suitable for the weather
