Why Stretch Your Horse?
Those that know me know I LOVE giving homework and love stretches! These are so easy to do and add in to your riding/working routine.
Itās an important part of keeping them comfortable, mobile, and performing at their best.
Regular stretching can help:
- Improve flexibility and range of motion
- Reduce muscle tension and stiffness
- Support healthy joint movement
- Encourage better balance and body awareness
- Improve performance by allowing your horse to move more freely
- Aid recovery after work
- Help reduce the risk of compensatory movement patterns that can lead to soreness
Just like human athletes, horses benefit from preparing their bodies for movement and recovering afterward. A few minutes of appropriate stretching can make a big difference in how your horse feels and moves.
Remember: Stretches should always be performed gently, never forced, and should stay within your horseās comfortable range of motion and on warm muscles.
A horse that moves well often feels betterāand a horse that feels better can perform at its best.
