A word to the wise! If you are looking for a "BARBER" don't be fooled by someone that says they are "certified" What they mean is that they either have no formal training or have very little to no education or experience at all. Some have taken the time and are enrolled in an apprenticeship program or some have taken a very short course to get a "Certificate" that you can get at any office supply store. They will in all likelihood have very little professional experience if any at all. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A BARBER TRADE LICENCE ANY LONGER. THE TRADE WAS PHASED OUT IN THE LATE 80's to early 90's. Barbering is included under the hairdressing umbrella and all they have to do for the exam for the men's cutting side is a taper. That's it! Believe me there is a lot more to barbering than a tapered haircut. If you want an ACTUAL JOURNEYMAN LICENSED OR TICKETED BARBER ask for their credentials to prove that they are who they are! Ask questions! Ask if they can prove a Barbering trade licence issued by the provincial Gov't or ask for their blue book from the apprenticeship board. Ask how long they have been in the business and ask for client referrals before you have them do any kind of service for you. If they are preforming a chemical service or service with straight razors I would be very wary for your own safety.
