Let’s talk about natural deodorant and how it works!

What causes body odor? When you sweat, the moisture on your skin becomes a perfect breeding ground the bacteria which causes odor. Regular, store bought deodorants work proactively by using aluminum to temporarily block the sweat glads, thus preventing the bacteria from developing to begin with. Natural deodorant works a little differently. We use magnesium hydroxide to alter your skins ph levels which makes the surface level of your skin more alkaline, not a great breeding ground for that stinky bacteria. This allows your sweat glands to keep working naturally without being “that” person no one wants to sit beside.

Will I still sweat, you ask? Yes! And our solution for that is the super absorbent power houses, arrowroot and kaolin clay. Kaolin clay works by drawing out impurities and absorbing moisture, the soft texture makes applying the natural deodorant easy and soft. Arrowroot is widely used in natural deodorants because it’s so effective at absorbing sweat.

So that’s it, our deodorant has only 7 ingredients! Our in house rendered beef tallow (we source our beef fat locally from The Meat Shoppe Fort Mcmurray so you get the best quality), mango butter (lightweight and dry butter that absorbs quickly and wont clog pores), beeswax (from our Alberta bees of course), magnesium hydroxide, arrowroot, kaolin clay and a perfume scent (want unscented? When switching to natural deodorant, your body will likely need time to adjust. You may sweat more or notice a change in your natural body odor. This is normal and will pass as the natural product begins to change the ph levels. It’s foot balm season!! This is the product that made me believe in the power of tallow. I’ve had cracked heels for 20 years. I’ve tried every product, medicated and not, to fix them and the cracks stayed. Within two weeks of nightly use of the tallow foot balm (and don’t forget daily exfoliation!) the cracks literally healed from the inside out and now I have baby soft feet 🤯.
