🌲🌿There are seasons for giving, and there are seasons for receiving🌿🌲
For the next little while, I’ll be stepping away from my treatment room to embrace a slower rhythm—to breathe a little deeper, spend time in nature and with family/friends, and simply be present.
Holding space for others is work that I cherish with all of my heart, and I believe that to continue offering that care with an open heart and grounded presence, I also need to honour my own need for rest. There is wisdom in the pause, and healing often begins in the moments when we allow ourselves to simply slow down.
Thank you for your patience while I’m away, and for trusting me to be part of your wellness journey. I look forward to returning rested, renewed, and grateful to welcome you back into my space.
Until then, may you find your own moments of stillness, take some time to enjoy nature, and remember that caring for yourself is never something to feel guilty about—it is an act of kindness, both to yourself and to those you love. 🤍
Love and Light,
Deborah

What helps you reset your nervous system? Ground yourself again?
Here are my top three sounds that help me:
- the sound water moving towards the shore
- the sound of the trees growing in the wind while birds are chirping all around
- the sound of rain falling
Things that I like to do to help reset my nervous system are:
- go for a nice walk in the forest
- place my feet in the Earth
- go for a massage or acupuncture
- immerse myself in a nice restorative yoga session or guided meditation
- enjoy a nice hot, candlelit bath

Everything is beginning to arrive so I can redesign and set up my new office/massage space. Excited to see the final result.

Warmth and pressure can be one of the greatest sources of REGULATION for your nervous system.

WATER is the basic element of life! It helps the body do so many of its natural functions. Water lubricates the joints as well as the layers between tissues - skin the fascia - fascia to muscle. A lack of sufficient water and hydration can lead to a loss of flexibility, tension and stiffness in the body. Water also helps aid in the body’s natural process of waste removal. This helps muscle tissue repair and restore itself and can help post massage soreness that might be experienced after a massage. So, when we say drink water this is why. So…… drink that water, PLEASE! 💦

Our bodies are magickal things and have many different ways of talking to us… and this is one of them. So remember, there is nothing embarrassing about a little tummy rumble or gurgle. It’s just your body letting you know that it has finally arrived in a safe enough space to let go and relax.

Hello, I’m Deborah and I’ve been a massage therapist since 2003. As a young child I always found myself massaging my family members which continued on into my teen years when you could usually find me massaging a friend’s shoulders, hands or feet. So, when a friend suggested it as a career I knew I had found my calling and I haven’t looked back since.

Early on in my career I found myself deeply focused on the physical and structural aspect of health in the human body, thinking if I could ease the tension or pain from these areas then the body would find its way back to health. But as I began my own healing journey, half way through my career, I began to see that the human system was as vast and deep as the universe we inhabit. I began to see how supporting a client through a “mind-body-soul” approach, opened up new ways my clients could access health and healing within their systems.

Though I have taken many modalities over the years and I love to perform traditional deep tissue/therapeutic massages I found myself drawn to more unique therapies that focus on areas of the body that receive less recognition. Thats why I created the FJNS massage and Spinal Rejuvenation Massage. It is also why I began my journey into Biodynamic craniosacral therapy which helped me better understand the parasympathetic nervous system and how helping my clients body feel safe brings so much more to my sessions.

Outside of work you can find me curled up with a good book, embracing my witchy side with crafting and hosting classes, or exploring the outdoors. Of course, you can also find me enjoying time with my husband and 2 kids or coffee with a friend. We only get one life to live and everyday I am learning to love each and every experience whether that’s time for myself or time with others.

Fort McMurray has been my home since I was 6 years old and I can’t wait to continue to support this community on this new journey.

Our bodies are wrapped in something extraordinary… FASCIA 🕸️ Fascia is the connective tissue web that surrounds your muscles, bones, organs and cells. Basically, it’s what holds everything together. Fascia is believed to be another method of communication that the body uses. Sometimes fascia can become twisted or distorted due to physical stress, emotional stress, and/or trauma. When the body goes through one or more of these experiences it can lead to things like chronic pain, emotional, overwhelmed, restricted movement, nervous system dysregulation.
Massage and biodynamic craniosacral therapy can help unlock and release these patterns and/or trauma, how deep in the fascia, allowing the body to soften and heal.
