A Little Business Update ❤️

I want to be honest with all of you about something that has been weighing heavily on me this summer.
I have owned my business for 15 years, and this has been one of the most difficult summers I’ve experienced. I book my weeks based on the appointments you have scheduled, and I spend hundreds of dollars each week making sure I have the colour, products, and inventory needed for your services.
Unfortunately, I’ve had an unusually high number of last-minute cancellations and no-shows this summer. I completely understand that emergencies and unexpected things happen, and I will always have compassion for those situations. At the same time, I have to look at this from a business perspective.
I also want to remind everyone that I pay for an appointment reminder service that sends you two reminders before your appointment. Your final reminder is sent three days before your scheduled appointment. This is the perfect time to let me know if you are unable to keep your appointment. Giving me those three days allows me enough time to adjust my schedule, potentially fill the appointment, and avoid purchasing inventory specifically for a service that will no longer be needed.
When an appointment is cancelled at the last minute or someone doesn’t show, that time usually cannot be filled. I still have the cost of the products I purchased, along with all of the other expenses that come with running a small business but I lose the income from that appointment.
This summer, it has happened often enough that it has put me in a very uncomfortable financial position. I am approaching my usual summer vacation, and unfortunately, because of the amount of lost income, I have not been able to set aside the vacation income I normally would.
Because of this, I have to make an important change moving forward:

Effective immediately, last-minute cancellations and no-shows will be charged 60% of the scheduled service.

I truly don’t want to have to implement this policy, but I need to protect my business and my ability to continue doing what I love. If the current situation continues, it simply isn’t financially sustainable for me to keep my doors open.
I love and appreciate every single one of you more than you know. ❤️ I’ve built my business over the past 15 years because of the amazing clients who continue to support me, and I’m incredibly grateful for that.
I hope you can understand that this isn’t about being punitive it’s about making sure I can continue to be here for you for many years to come.

Just a little reminder that I’ll be taking my usual two-week vacation during the first two weeks of September. 🌸
This means the salon is extremely busy and completely booked until then. I do have a cancellation list, so if you’d like to be added, please let me know!
If you already have an appointment but no longer need it, I’d really appreciate you reaching out as soon as possible so I can offer that spot to someone else. I’m doing my best to get everyone in before I head off on vacation. ❤️
Because I’ll be away for two weeks, September is already filling up quickly. I’m also booking into October, so if you’d like to get your next appointment booked ahead, just send me a message!

Just a reminder, My Summer hours will be starting for July and August. So keep in mind if you have a date or a week or certain times that you need please book ahead. I do shorten my hours in the summertime and I just wanna make sure when you need me I’m available… it works out that I either take a Wednesday off OR a Saturday off each week (just one day not both)
