I help hardworking moms rediscover joy through simple, meaningful family moments. Let's make family life feel joyful again.

If you're the one everyone leans on — and you've quietly lost a little of yourself along the way — you're in the right place.

🏡 Whoever is trying to buy a house right now... I have only ONE recommendation ://www.facebook.com/TallonRealtor

💛 Some people sell houses.
Mary-Lou builds relationships.
That's a Simple MOMent worth sharing.

One of the things I hope this page becomes is a place where we celebrate people who quietly make a difference in other people's lives.

Today, that person is Mary-Lou.

When people ask me if I can recommend a real estate agent, my answer is always immediate: without hesitation, Mary-Lou.

Buying a home is one of the biggest decisions you'll ever make, and Mary-Lou somehow makes what can be an overwhelming experience feel exciting, reassuring, and even enjoyable.

Back in 2021, my family viewed 31 houses with Mary-Lou before we found "the one"—our home, which happened to be house number 27. Not once did she rush us, pressure us, or make us feel like we were taking too long. Instead, she encouraged us to wait until we found the home that truly felt right.

I'm fairly certain she knew our taste in homes better than we did by the end of it. 😊

Looking back now, I can't imagine having gone through that journey with anyone else.

But what makes Mary-Lou truly exceptional is that her care doesn't end on closing day.

Even years after purchasing our home, she continues to be there whenever we need advice or a recommendation. Whether it's finding a reliable plumber, electrician, pool specialist, or another trusted local professional, Mary-Lou always knows the right person to call. She has built an incredible network and is genuinely happy to help long after the sale is complete.

Like every family, we've had a few bumps in the road over the years. Through some of those difficult moments, Mary-Lou showed up with kindness, wisdom, and a listening ear. She has an incredible ability to make you feel heard and supported.

I'm still trying to figure out if she's secretly a Realtor, a life coach, or just one of the kindest humans I've ever met. ❤️

What amazes me most is how she treats every client. She somehow makes you feel like you're the only family she has ever worked with. You never feel like a number or just another sale. You feel valued, remembered, and genuinely cared about.

Mary-Lou also gives so much back to the Cole Harbour community. She builds relationships, not client lists. Every year she brings together her clients for a wonderful Client Appreciation Boat Cruise where old clients reconnect, laugh, and make new memories together. At Christmas, she surprises us with the most beautiful poinsettias, and every birthday she remembers us with a thoughtful gift. These aren't marketing gestures—they're simply a reflection of who she is.

More than four years have passed since we bought our home, yet Mary-Lou is still part of our lives. We don't just consider her our real estate agent—we consider her family. That, more than anything else, speaks to the kind of person she is.

If you're looking for someone who is knowledgeable, patient, honest, incredibly well-connected, deeply involved in the community, and someone who will stand beside you long after you've received your keys, then Mary-Lou is the person you want.

There are many people who can help you buy a house. Very few will continue helping you build a life in it. Mary-Lou is one of those rare people.

Thank you, Mary-Lou, for helping us find our forever home, for always being only a phone call away, and for caring about our family as much as you do. We are forever grateful, and we recommend you with all our hearts.

💛 Thank you for reminding us that the best professionals don't just do their jobs well—they make people feel seen, supported, and cared for.

That's what Simple MOMents is all about. ❤️

☀️ Good morning, Ladies! Happy Saturday! 💛

What a beautiful way to start the weekend! We're waking up to sunshine here in Dartmouth, with temperatures around 15°C, and we'll warm up to about 26°C this afternoon. It will become a little breezy later, but it's looking like a lovely summer day.

Wherever today takes you, I hope you find one simple moment to slow down, smile, and enjoy the people around you. Those little moments often become the biggest memories. 💛

Have a wonderful Saturday!

but maybe before you jump into your day, I thought you might enjoy this little read. 💛

For years, I poured so much of myself into caring for everyone else that somewhere along the way, I began wondering:

When did I stop feeling like me?
Not “Where did I put my coffee?”
Although that is also a question I ask regularly.

I mean…
When did my own dreams, joy, confidence, and purpose quietly move to the bottom of a to-do list that somehow never ends?

I’m a full-time working mom.

I manage work, children, school schedules, hockey, soccer, meals, appointments, laundry, household responsibilities, bills—and the daily mystery of why everyone asks Mom where something is before they have even attempted to look.

Some days, I feel strong, organized, and ready to take on the world.

Other days, I walk into a room, forget why I’m there, notice something that needs cleaning—and start doing that instead.

I didn’t create Simple MOMents 💛 because I have motherhood perfectly figured out.

I definitely do not. It is really quite opposite if I am honest.
My laundry can confirm this.

I created it because I’m living this season too.

Some of you have been following me since 2013, when I first came to Canada and created Threading BrowsMe.

Women came to have their eyebrows threaded—but what stayed with me most wasn’t the eyebrows.
Although some of those transformations deserved their own award ceremony.

It was the conversations.
The stories.
The laughter.
The encouragement.
The moments when a woman sat down carrying the weight of her entire world—and left feeling a little lighter, a little more confident, and a little more seen.

I often offered my services for free or at a very low cost because helping women mattered deeply to me.

Then life became busy.
I became a wife, a mom of two, a full-time employee, a chauffeur, a scheduler, a snack provider, and a finder of missing shoes.

I became quieter online.

But that part of me—the part that loved connecting with women, hearing their stories, encouraging them, and helping them see their own value—never disappeared.

Over the years, I realized something:
My passion was never only beauty.
It was always people.
It was helping women feel seen.
Valued.
Encouraged.
Capable.
And reminded that they matter too.

That is why I created Simple MOMents 💛

Not because I want to show a perfect family.
Not because I have all the answers.
And definitely not because I believe moms need another impossible list of things they “should” be doing.
We already have enough lists.

Some of mine are now so old they may qualify as historical documents.

I created Simple MOMents because I believe hardworking women—especially moms—deserve a place where we can be honest about how much we carry.

A place where we can encourage one another without comparing ourselves to one another.

A place where we can help each other.

A place where nobody has to pretend that motherhood is always easy—or that creating a beautiful childhood requires more money, more time, a perfect home, or a perfectly organized life.

And a place where the woman behind all the responsibilities can reconnect with her own joy, confidence, dreams, and purpose.

Because somewhere beneath all the schedules, responsibilities, lunches, practices, bills, and laundry…

You are still there.

You are more than the person who remembers everyone’s appointments.

More than the one packing lunches, paying bills, organizing practices, cleaning the house, and holding everything together.

Your dreams still matter.

Your joy still matters.

Your purpose still matters.

You matter too. 💛

Simple MOMents is not a place where I stand in front of other moms pretending I have motherhood figured out.

I’m walking alongside you.

Probably carrying three bags, someone else’s water bottle, and a coffee I will forget to drink—but walking alongside you. 💛

Because maybe rediscovering ourselves doesn’t begin with changing our entire lives.

Maybe it begins with one honest conversation.

One small choice.

One moment of joy.

And one reminder that the woman we used to be didn’t disappear.

She may simply have been so busy taking care of everyone else that she forgot to save a little space for herself. 💛

If you are the person everyone counts on, but you sometimes wonder when you stopped feeling like yourself…

I see you.

You belong here.

And I’m so glad you’re part of this new chapter. 💛

Tell me in the comments: What's one small thing that makes you feel like you? It can be anything—a walk, reading, gardening, coffee in peace, music... I'd love to hear.

If this spoke to you, simply comment: "I'm still here." 💛

☀️ Good morning, Ladies! Happy Friday! 💛

It looks like we're in for a beautiful summer day here in Dartmouth. We'll start the morning around 14°C, with a little breeze, and warm up to about 23°C with a lovely mix of sunshine and clouds.

I hope you find one little moment to slow down today—whether it's enjoying your coffee outside, taking a walk, or sharing a laugh with someone you love. 💛

Wishing you a wonderful Friday!

Maybe today wasn’t “just another ordinary Friday.”
Maybe it was childhood happening right in front of you. 💛

The morning rush.

The missing shoes.

The breakfast nobody finished.

The water bottle you filled—and somehow ended up carrying yourself.

The drive to camp, daycare, work, practice, or wherever everyone needed to be.

The same questions.

The same meals.

The same laundry that keeps returning like it pays the mortgage.

When you’re a busy mom, everyday life can feel repetitive.

Wake up.
Get everyone ready.
Work.
Cook.
Clean.
Drive.
Repeat.

And sometimes, while scrolling through beautiful vacations, perfectly planned activities, and picture-perfect family moments, you may quietly wonder:
“Am I doing enough?”

But what feels ordinary to you may feel completely different to your children.
The song you always play in the car may become “our song.”
The dinner you make all the time may someday taste like home.
The way you ask about their day may teach them that their stories matter.
The hug you give without thinking may become part of what safety feels like.
The silly joke you’ve repeated 300 times—and that nobody admits is funny anymore—may become the joke they repeat when they are older.

You may see another busy day.

But your children may see:
💛 Home
💛 Comfort
💛 Belonging
💛 Someone who always showed up

Not every meaningful memory announces itself.
Sometimes, it looks like singing in the car.
Sometimes, it looks like eating dinner together.
Sometimes, it looks like laughing over something completely ridiculous while the laundry waits patiently for its 47th business day.

You don’t always need to create more.

You may simply need to notice the love already living inside the ordinary moments.

Because ordinary does not mean unimportant.

And today wasn’t just another day.

It was part of their childhood. 💛

Before you go to bed tonight, think of one ordinary moment from today that you are grateful you didn’t miss.

Then share it in the comments—because your simple moment may help another mom notice hers. 💛

☀️ Good morning, Ladies! Happy Thursday! 💛

It’s looking like a beautiful sunny morning here in Dartmouth! We’re starting the day around 17°C, and it will warm up quickly, reaching the mid-20s by lunchtime. ☀️

A perfect morning to enjoy your coffee outside, open the windows, or take a few quiet minutes in the sunshine before the busyness of the day begins. 💛

The tradition your children remember most may be something you barely realized was a tradition. 💛

When we hear the words “family tradition,” we may imagine something beautifully planned.
Matching pajamas.
Perfect decorations.
Homemade cookies shaped like tiny snowflakes.
Everyone smiling peacefully while soft music plays in the background. 😂

Meanwhile, in real family life, someone is asking where their other sock is, the cookies are slightly burned, and one child has suddenly decided they no longer like the food they loved yesterday.

But family traditions don’t have to be expensive, elaborate, or picture-perfect.
They can be simple.
🍕 Friday pizza night
🥞 Saturday morning pancakes
🎬 A movie together under the same cozy blanket
🎶 Singing your favourite songs in the car
🙏 Bedtime prayers
🎂 A special breakfast on birthdays
🚗 Stopping for a little treat after practice

Sometimes, traditions begin without us even realizing it.

We do something once.
Then again.

And one day, our children ask:
“Are we doing our thing tonight?” 💛

That little question means more than we may realize.

Children find comfort in familiar moments.

They love knowing there is something special they can count on—even when that “something special” is eating pizza in pajamas while everyone argues for 25 minutes about which movie to watch. 😂

The magic isn’t always in how much money we spend.
It isn’t in perfect planning.

It’s in the feeling of:
“This is what our family does.”
Traditions create connection.

They create belonging.

And years from now, our children may not remember whether everything was perfectly organized.

But they may remember the pancakes.
The songs.

The laughter.

The silly family jokes.

And the little moments they could always count on. 💛

What is one simple tradition your family already loves?

Share it in the comments—you may inspire another family to create a beautiful tradition of their own. 💛

☀️ Good morning, Ladies! Happy Wednesday! 💛

It’s going to be a beautiful, hot summer day here in Dartmouth! We’re expecting sunshine with some clouds later, a high around 28°C, and it may feel closer to 33°C with the humidity. There is a small chance of a late-afternoon shower or thundershower, so enjoy that sunshine while it’s here! ☀️🌦️

Tonight, give your family two minutes they may remember much longer than you expect. 💛

Yes—just two minutes.

Not two hours.
Not an expensive family outing.
Not a perfectly planned activity involving 14 supplies, three trips to the store, and a Pinterest tutorial created by someone whose children apparently never interrupt. 😂

Just two minutes.

Because as busy moms, we already have enough to do.
Work. Dinner. Laundry. Homework. Practices. Cleaning. Bedtime.
And answering questions like:
“Mom, where are my shoes?”
“I don’t know. Have you looked where shoes live?”

Sometimes, we are so busy taking care of everything that we miss the little moments happening right in front of us.

So tonight, try the Simple MOMents 2-Minute Moment. 💛

Choose something your family is already doing:
🚗 Driving to practice
🍽️ Eating dinner
🧺 Folding laundry
🛁 Getting ready for bed
🏠 Cleaning up after another day

Then add one small moment of connection.

Ask everyone the funniest thing that happened today.

Play your family’s favorite song in the car—and sing loudly enough to embarrass your children. That is part of the experience.

Have a two-minute dance party while cleaning.

Ask, “If our family had a superpower, what would it be?”

Or put the phones away and spend two minutes really listening to one another.

That’s it.

No extra money.
No complicated planning.
No pressure to create a picture-perfect family moment.
Just:
💛 Choose a moment already happening.
💛 Put distractions aside.
💛 Add one small connection.
💛 Be fully present for two minutes.

Will the laundry still be there afterward?
Absolutely.
Laundry is loyal like that. It never leaves us. 😂

But for two minutes, forget the list.

Laugh.

Listen.

Be silly. Be a child.

Be together.

Because sometimes, the smallest moments become the biggest memories. 💛

Try the Simple MOMents 2-Minute Moment tonight, then come back and tell us: What did your family do?

Good morning, beautiful ladies! 💛

Happy Tuesday from Dartmouth! Today is expected to bring a mix of sun and clouds, some wind, and a chance of showers earlier in the day. Temperatures could reach around 28°C, with a humidex near 31. ☀️🌦️

In other words: Nova Scotia weather would like us to bring sunglasses, an umbrella, a sweater, and possibly a complete change of clothes—just to be safe. 😂

Now, here is your little Simple MOMents reminder for today… 💛What if creating more family memories didn’t mean adding one more thing to your already-full schedule? 💛

Because, ladies… I don’t know about you, but my schedule does not need another activity.
My calendar is already looking at me like:
“Anna, respectfully… absolutely not.”

Between work, meals, laundry, practices, appointments, cleaning, homework, groceries, and answering “Mom, where is my…?” approximately 147 times a day, the last thing most moms need is another complicated family activity to plan.

We don’t need a Pinterest board.
We don’t need matching family outfits.
We don’t need a colour-coded itinerary.

Some of us are just trying to remember why we walked into the kitchen.

Creating meaningful memories doesn’t always mean adding something new to your life.
Sometimes, it means adding a little joy to something you are already doing.

Driving to practice?
Play a favourite song and sing loudly together—even if your children ask you to stop.

Making dinner?
Ask everyone the funniest thing that happened today.

Cleaning the house?
Turn on music and have a two-minute dance party.

Sitting together at dinner?
Put the phones away and ask one silly question.

Bedtime?
Stay for one extra hug or one little conversation.

That’s it.

No extra money.

No complicated planning.

No additional appointment squeezed into a calendar that is already fighting for its life. 😂

You don’t always need to do more to create beautiful memories.
Sometimes, you simply need to notice the moments already happening—and make one of them feel a little more special. 💛

What is one thing your family already does that you could turn into a Simple MOMent today?

Share your idea in the comments—you may inspire another busy mom. 💛

Your children may not remember everything you planned for them—but they will remember how ordinary moments felt. 💛

Good morning, beautiful ladies! 💛

It’s going to be a beautiful day here in Dartmouth—partly sunny and around 27°C. ☀️

Which means we will probably spend the morning telling our children to put on sunscreen… then reminding them again… then asking, “Did you actually put it on?” 😂

Someone will say, “I’m bored,” while surrounded by toys, bikes, balls, books, electronics—and the entire outdoors. 🤣

Someone will ask for a snack approximately seven minutes after breakfast.

And somewhere, a mom will reheat the same cup of coffee three times and still forget where she left it. 😂

Because motherhood is beautiful…

but some days it also feels like managing a small company where nobody checks the calendar, nobody replaces the toilet paper roll, and everyone asks the manager where their socks are. 🤣

As moms, we carry so much.

Work. Meals. Practices. Homework. Laundry. Cleaning. Appointments. Bedtime.

Sometimes, the entire day feels like one long list of responsibilities.

We want to give our children a beautiful childhood, so we may feel pressure to plan more activities, take bigger trips, spend more money, or create picture-perfect experiences.

But when our children grow up, some of their most meaningful memories may be much simpler.

💛 The songs you played in the car

💛 The silly jokes only your family understood

💛 Friday pizza nights

💛 The way you cheered from the sidelines

💛 The conversations you had while driving to practice

💛 The hugs before bedtime

They may not remember whether the laundry was folded perfectly.

Which is excellent news because some of mine has been living in a basket long enough that it may now qualify as a permanent resident. 😂

They may not remember whether the house was spotless.

But they may remember how home felt.

The ordinary moments when they felt safe, loved, heard, and happy to be with you.

Creating beautiful family memories doesn’t always require more time, more money, more energy, or more planning.

Sometimes, it simply means being present for a moment that is already happening.

Today may feel like another busy Monday to you.

But to your child?

This is their childhood. 💛

What is one simple family moment from your own childhood that you still remember today?

I would love to hear yours. 💛
