Divine Light Massage

Not a fun fact.

Did you know that Tim Curry suffered a stroke after receiving a massage?

Because I didn't. 😳

And while we can't assume that the massage caused his stroke, it was a good reminder of why client safety and contraindications matter.

This is one of the reasons I will not massage directly over areas affected by varicose veins, and why I will not provide massage to someone with uncontrolled high blood pressure or a known/suspected blood clot. I also require clearance before working with someone who has had a recent stroke or blood clot.

I am simply not willing to take that chance.

I've had people tell me, “Well, another massage therapist still massages me, they just use lighter pressure.”

I don't care.

If I know about a potential risk, I will not knowingly put my client's health at risk just to provide a massage. I am not willing to be responsible for potentially aggravating or dislodging a known or suspected clot.

And honestly? It's not even about protecting my license.

It's because I care about the person on my table.

If a massage therapist refuses to work on you, please understand that there may be a very good reason behind that decision, even if you don't personally understand the contraindication.

We are professionals.
We have a responsibility to recognize when massage is appropriate, when modifications are needed, and when referring you back to your healthcare provider is the safest choice.

Sometimes the most professional thing we can say is:

“I'm sorry, but I can't safely massage you today.”

Hey everyone,
I had taken a break from social media and as such I did not do any posting/publicity.
While I'm aware it's very last minute, I'd like to invite you to some things.

I will be doing a walk tomorrow morning at the Centre de la nature de Laval. (Meeting at the chalet in front of the lake)
We will be going for a walk, concluding with some grounding activities and having lunch together. Come join us for community, health, and wellness for body, mind, and soul.
This is taking place at 10;00am & is $10/person.
Kids and pets are welcome.

Later that evening (8:30, not 8:00) I will be hosting a drop in meditation circle located at Divine Light Massage (3221 autoroute Jean-Noël-Lavoie suite 206). It will be a simple meditation, teaching you how to body scan and focus on the breath, teaching you to come back to your body, to your self.
Come with a yoga mat, your beautiful self and an open mind and heart. Snacks and drinks included. 🥰

And finally Sunday I will be hosting a gratitude circle. This will be the start of a series that will teach you how to find gratitude in a world this dark and difficult. A circle for us to gather together and train our minds to realize the good there is truly is in the world.
$15/person and it includes a meditation, music, snacks, drinks, journal prompts, embodiment (somatic movement) & exercises to do together and separately.
