This picture I took from my first time client who did her lash extensions from somewhere. Please be careful in choosing your lash artists.

Eyelash extensions applied by an untrained or uncertified person pose significant risks to both eye health and the natural lashes. While safe when performed by professionals, untrained application often results in severe discomfort, permanent damage, and infection.

Common Problems Caused by Untrained Technicians:

Traction Alopecia and Lash Loss: Untrained individuals often apply heavy or overly long extensions that natural lashes cannot support, leading to premature shedding and permanent damage to the hair follicle.

"Stickies" (Clumped Lashes): Multiple natural lashes may be glued together. Since lashes grow at different rates, this causes painful tugging as one lash tries to grow while stuck to another that is ready to shed.

Adhesive on Skin/Eyelid: Extensions should never touch the eyelid skin. Untrained techs often glue lashes to the skin, which can clog follicles and cause irritation or dermatitis.

Allergic Reactions and Chemical Burns: Use of low-quality or non-professional adhesives (some even using nail glue) can result in severe burning sensations, intense swelling, and allergic reactions to components like formaldehyde.

Infections and Corneal Scratches: Unhygienic practices, such as dirty tools, can introduce bacteria, leading to infections like conjunctivitis (pink eye) or styes. Sharp tweezers can also cause corneal abrasions.

Drooping Eyelids (Ptosis): Excessively heavy extensions can cause the eyelid to droop.

Signs of Incorrect Application:

Pain, burning, or itching during or after the procedure.
Feeling like your eyes are being pulled or heavy eyelids.
Lashes that are clumpy or Tangled.
