A Glimpse Into the Golden Age of the English Romantic Guitar 🇬🇧🎸
We are delighted to welcome a remarkable piece of musical history into the Grand Guitar Salon collection.
Presented here is an English Romantic guitar by Fred K. Grosjean of London, dating to approximately 1850.
John Frederick Grosjean was principally known as a celebrated harp maker, working from the famous 11 Soho Square, London, but his work extended into other stringed instruments and innovative approaches to sound production. Historical references document Grosjean guitars from this period, including instruments made in the Spanish style.
This guitar is a beautiful example of the aesthetic and craftsmanship of the Romantic era. Its warm spruce soundboard is framed by delicate mother-of-pearl ornamentation, complemented by the richly coloured wooden body, decorative rosette, traditional bridge, and wonderfully distinctive ivory-buttoned brass tuning machines.
What makes an instrument like this so fascinating is that it sits at the crossroads of several traditions — English craftsmanship, Spanish-inspired guitar design, and the experimentation of 19th-century instrument makers.
More than simply an old guitar, it is a tangible piece of the history of the instrument we know and love today.

✨ A MASTERPIECE MARKING 30 YEARS OF DEDICATION ✨
We are truly honoured to welcome a very special instrument to Grand Guitar Salon ‼️ The Antonio Raya Ferrer “30 Aniversario”, created in celebration of three decades devoted to the art of Spanish guitar making.
Born and working in Granada, Spain, Antonio Raya Ferrer carries an extraordinary family legacy. Trained by his father, Antonio Raya Pardo, he represents the fifth generation of the historic Ferrer guitar-making tradition, a lineage whose roots extend back to 1875.
For this commemorative instrument, Antonio has brought together the knowledge, experience and tradition accumulated throughout his career, selecting exceptional tonewoods to create an instrument of remarkable character and refinement.

The result is a guitar with the qualities one hopes to find in a true concert instrument: clarity, projection, harmonic richness, balance and an expressive, singing voice, with a refined response that rewards both the player and the listener.
But beyond its sound, there is something particularly meaningful about this guitar.
The “30 Aniversario” is more than a concert instrument — it is a celebration of 30 years of craftsmanship, heritage, passion and dedication, embodied in a handmade guitar from one of Granada’s distinguished contemporary luthiers.
A rare opportunity for the serious guitarist and collector to own a piece of modern Spanish guitar-making history.
