5 brow mapping tips that can seriously elevate your results 👀

Brow mapping isn’t just about making both brows look “the same” — it’s about creating a shape that works with your client’s individual facial structure. Here are 5 little things that can make a BIG difference to your mapping:

1. Don’t guess where the brow should start. 📍
One of the easiest ways to throw off an entire brow shape is starting too far in or out. Use your client’s natural facial landmarks to establish your starting point — a common reference is a line from the outer edge of the nostril, through the inner corner of the eye, and up to the brow. But don’t treat this as a one-size-fits-all rule! Nose and eye placement, facial asymmetry and the client’s existing brow growth all need to be considered.

2. Eyes open + looking straight ahead for the arch. 👀
This one is SO important. Ask your client to sit comfortably with their eyes open and looking straight ahead at a fixed point before finding the arch. The arch is commonly mapped from the nostril through the centre/outer edge of the iris, depending on your mapping method. If your client is looking up, down or to the side, that reference point moves — and suddenly your beautifully mapped arch isn’t where you thought it was!

3. Map both brows before you start removing hair. ✏️
It can be tempting to perfect one brow and then copy it onto the other, but remember: faces aren’t perfectly symmetrical! Map both sides first, then compare your key points — start, arch and tail — and look at the whole face. You’re aiming for visual balance, not identical twins. Sometimes the best correction is actually to make a small adjustment to compensate for natural facial asymmetry rather than forcing both brows into exactly the same position.

Our essential tinting hacks:

🤍NEVER pre-mix the tint. Mix just prior to application.
🤍Mix throughly for 2 minutes.
Understand that laminated brows behave differently to tint compared to in laminated brows.
🤍 If the client is concerned about overdarkening the brows, either go for a lighter colour than you think OR use double/triple developer to tint ratio.
🤍Start tinting the middle of the brow first and use the excess of tint in your brush to feather the the fronts. This will ensure there are no harsh lines.
