Thanksgiving weekend is here and we have so much to be grateful for.

We’re thankful for our incredible ORESTA team - Jenny, Flic, Rebecca and Ly. A spectacular group of women who are so much more than coworkers, we are family. We’re so grateful for their kindness, care, dedication, and the joy that they bring us and our customers every day.

And to our wonderful ORESTA customers and community: thank you. Your trust, support, and continued encouragement allow us to do what we love every day. It’s an honour to be part of your lives and to have such an amazing community behind us.

Thank you for supporting our ORESTA Bosom Buddies team in the Run For The Cure. We surpassed $25,000 in donations for breast cancer research. Every runner, every donation and every kind word of support helped get us there.

We hope this weekend brings you peace, joy, and plenty of happiness.
Whether it’s sharing a delicious meal around a table with family and friends, getting outside to hike and take in the beautiful fall colours, or curling up on the couch with a good book and a face mask. However you choose to spend your weekend, we hope it’s filled with what makes you happiest. You deserve it.

This Thanksgiving feels different for our family. It will be our first without our father. Our family looks a little smaller with two of our daughters away but were happy that our sister will be celebrating with us. It reminds us of how precious time with family and friends creating beautiful memories together truly are.

Giving Gertie bags are a beautiful way to spread kindness this Thanksgiving.

This local mother and daughter initiative promotes a not-so-random act of kindness. Every cotton reusable pouch is filled with a few treats, a Tim Hortons gift card and a note of kindness. They’re meant to be kept in your purse or car to give to someone who could use a little extra care.

What do we do with the Giving Gertie bags?
1. We place a bag at each plate setting for Thanksgiving dinner for our guests to take and offer to someone in need. 2. We give one to the host tied onto a bottle of w**e.

Giving Gertie bags are a small gesture to make someone’s day a little easier.

Each bag is $5, and 100% of proceeds go back into our community to support food scarcity, supporting Shepherds of Good Hope and Parkdale Food Centre.

In March of 2020, the radio announced that food banks were facing increased demand at the same time that fundraising efforts were being shut down beause of the pandemic. I initially thought I could help pack boxes at the Ottawa Food Bank. The question arose in my mind, “What if instead, I spent that time creating a piece of art and auctioning it off? Wouldn’t that be of more value?” I thought I would do it every Thursday (because what else was I doing?), until the pandemic was over in a few weeks time. So began my ‘Every Thursday Art Auction’. I launched it on 32auctions.com/christophergriffin. The first painting went for three times its value and raised $1000. That amount of money could buy way more food and help way more people than my sweat labour. So I continued…

In 2023, I opened a studio in Charlottetown, PEI and began splitting the proceeds 50/50 between the Ottawa and the PEI Food Banks: The Upper Room Hospitality Ministry Inc.. To date, Every Thursday Art Auction has raised $105,224.97 for the Ottawa Food Bank and $24,731 for the PEI Food Banks. 2026 is the 7th year of Every Thursday Art Auction, running from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve, 13 Thursdays in total. The value of this auction isn’t only in the amount of money raised. Every week people help raise awareness of the ongoing need to support the food banks by simply liking and sharing.

When your little sister is diagnosed with cancer, life changes. 💗

Yesterday, at the Run For The Cure, seeing Laryssa so deeply embraced and surrounded by women who love her, support her, and stand beside her was incredibly moving. Thank you. 💕💕💕

Over 50 women joined ORESTA Bosom Buddies to run in Ottawa, as well as in Peterborough, Saint John, and Kingston. They were all running with one purpose: to help find a cure.

ORESTA Bosom Buddies surpassed our goal of $23.000 raising $24,089.26. We were the third top fundraising team in Ottawa. We were the third top fundraising team in Ottawa. A huge thank you to those who supported us. Thank you to Christopher Griffin Art Studio for the tshirt design and to Jessica for helping to print them. A huge thank you to Brian for the post run feast. An extra huge thank you to those who supported us with your donations. Our hearts are so very full. On Sunday, October 4, ORESTA’s Bosom Buddies will be back for Ottawa’s Run for the Cure, and we’d love for you to join us.

Last year, 36 incredible women came together to run alongside Laryssa and raised more than $23,000 for breast cancer treatment and research. This year, we’re hoping to bring even more of our community together.

Whether you run or walk the 1 km or 5 km route, come be part of a morning filled with female friendship, support, laughter and lots of hugs. And stay afterward to share some food and drinks as we celebrate together.

We’re running for Laryssa, for every woman fighting, every survivor, every woman we’ve lost, and everyone who has loved someone through breast cancer.
