CHOCOLATE ESPRESSO ☕️ 🤎

I love this colour, but at first I didn’t.

This client was ready for a big change. We’ve been highlighting her hair for about a year now but she wanted to switch it up and go DARK (slide 1). We left out some pieces around her face and throughout the back for some highlights and coloured everything else. Now don’t get me wrong, her colour looked beautiful, softly blended with pops of light and dark, but it wasn’t what she wanted (slide 2). Looking back at her inspo photos, I felt like I hadn’t matched what she was wanting. So in 5 weeks when she came in for her root touch up, I mentioned it. I told her that I felt like we didn’t go as dark as she had wanted and asked her for her thoughts. She agreed and said she loved it but also hoped to be darker. So instead of just doing her roots we put in some lowlights to darken everything up more.

This is what being a hairstylist is about. Collaborating with the client to achieve what they’re wanting. Reevaluating your own work and finding ways to improve or change. Sometimes I don’t hit our inspo in the first appointment. But I will always be open to reflect back and adjust our service so you walk away completely in love with your hair.
