The Ambulance Paramedics of BC extends our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the two Island EMS paramedics, and to the loved ones of the patient, who tragically lost their lives. This heartbreaking loss is felt across the paramedic profession. From British Columbia, we stand in solidarity with the entire Island EMS community during this incredibly difficult time. We honour those who were lost, and we will keep them, and everyone affected, in our thoughts.

Our thoughts are with our friends at Island EMS today as we learn of the tragic news out of PEI.

PTSD is an occupational reality for many paramedics, dispatchers, and first responders. On PTSD Awareness Day, we recognize those living with invisible injuries, honour their resilience, and encourage open conversations about mental health. Together, we can reduce stigma, support one another, and remind those who are struggling that they are not alone.
