This is amazing! I wish we could easily access this in Canada!! It does show (on one body) what happens with the lymphatics after surgery and how it shifts and moves.
I can’t show it, but often I can “feel” it and usually help get it moving!

A special lady, ' W', gave permission to share this image to help others when Cancer Rehab PT posted today about where does the fluid go , and ICG mapping to help determine lymphatic pathways which is such a fascinating process and newish scan not readily available to most people . But we can learn from the results of others.

W said- "I was fortunate enough to have this Indocyanine green (ICG) lymphography last week. It was amazing. My arm is draining well. My lymphoedema is mainly in the chest and the red patches show where it is pooling in the skin and the direction of draining which appears to be the mammary chain and opposite axilla.

The discussion progressed as follows: the green lines show lymphatic flow. The red patches show disruption to the flow and pooling. He simply used a pen tip to gently push the fluid along the pathways- amazing to see the manual drainage. It shows pretty normal flow through the arm with past issues such as a severe burn at the wrist, and another injury in the upper ulnar area leading to some disruption and dermal pooling which was easy to move. It shows drainage from the arm to the left axilla. Any overflow moves to the chest and pools there. The tracking shows some movement to the left supraclavicular. Some appears to take unknown pathways to the left torso (the lower pool) which drains back into on the chest, but also downwards. The balance of the chest drains to the sternum and a significant drainage route to the right axilla. I have been wearing a sleeve for three years. The advice was it was not necessary! Using this map has resulted in being able to drain my chest to the point where I can see my ribs again. Amazing.

I am lucky enough to have a plastic surgeon who is establishing connections with the project in Sydney and grabbed the opportunity to do this!"

Now keep in mind , everyone's 'maps' can be different, but there will also be similarities .

Surgery such as mastectomy ,axilla node removal , scaring, cording, adhesions ,radiation fibrosis , reconstruction - it all effects our skin and our lymph fluid pathways just under our skin. Indocyanine green (ICG) lymphography gives us a fascinating sneak peak at what happens under our skin and how lymph fluid moves.
