Today, I welcomed three new clients into my studio, and what made today truly special was not just that they were new, but the reasons they came. One of them traveled nearly five hours to get here. And as I looked at her, I realized this was not our first time meeting. Six years ago, she was just a 15 year old girl sitting in my chair for the very first time, getting her lashes done for her middle school graduation photos. Back then, she was young, a little shy, and full of excitement. Since that day, every summer, she would come back to Saskatoon with her family, and every single time, she would return to my studio and leave with a fresh, clean set of lashes.

Today reminded me why I chose this path.

A client drove nearly 2.5 hours after work, arriving later than planned. My schedule had already closed at 8 PM, but I stayed and welcomed her from 8 to 10 PM. Outside, the weather suddenly turned harsh. I messaged her, gently letting her know that rescheduling would be completely okay, because her safety matters first.

But she replied, “It’s okay. I’ll be careful. I’ve been waiting for this.”

After two long months of winter, when her car broke down and she couldn’t make it to Saskatoon, today was the day she finally chose for herself.

In that moment, I felt something deeper than responsibility. I felt the weight of her trust.

Before I even started, I told myself:
