a whole new world having "fake" ones on! I'll always remember how beautiful I felt and feeling my fingers looked elongated and elegant. Even to this day I get that same feeling. I actually feel "naked" not having them done now! Haha

Because of my experience with my Aunt and it being a memory that has stuck with me over the years, I kept up with doing glue on nails and then eventually ventured into going to a Salon to get them done. My first time was because my mom gifted me with a set. That was such an euphoric experience for me that I continued to get them done and paid much attention to the process of it. I started to ask questions and then one day, my nail tech at the time, Sabrina Courtoreille at Dynamic Beauty, asked if I had ever thought of becoming a Nail Technician. I had a passion for the industry and loved how it made me feel. I wanted to provide that for other women and looked into the course. At that time, I didn't have the means to take the course and life circumstances prevented me from pursuing it. I had stopped getting my nails done professionally for a while, but in that time, I thought to myself "I should try doing my own nails!" I acquired some tools and product and with all the questions I had been asking, paying attention to how nails were applied, watching Youtube videos and such, I started practicing on myself. I was amazed at how many compliments I was receiving and realized I had a talent for this. Now, many years later I have had the opportunity to take a Gel and Acrylic course with an amazing instructor named Debrah Davidson at her academy called Unique U and I can absolutely say that not only was she AMAZING but that this is what I am meant, should and want to be doing. For me, nails is not just having nice fingers to look at. It is MUCH more than that. It is a way to help clients feel confident, have a safe place to vent/talk (this is your non-counseling counseling session ;) ), a reprieve, a time to self pamper and for some, it is something that helps to relieve anxiety. It still amazes me, to this day, how many come in to get their nails done to stop chewing due to stress and anxiety! I am just grateful that I can help in some small way to make their lives a bit better! This is also my creative outlet and a time I get to connect with other, male (yes, even males need pampering) and female! I am always considered a student as this is an industry that is always evolving, but my goal is to one day be an Ah-mazing and awe inspiring Nail Technician. I appreciate all the patience and words of encouragement from family, friends and my clients. I wouldn't be where I am today without all of you! So thank you!
