I’m a day late, but Canada Day always has me reminiscing on my years working at Virtually Famous.

I did hair before VF, but I did all services. I hadn’t found my specialty yet. I already loved blonding and did a lot of blondes, but when it came to extensions, I had only taken a fusion extension course and had maybe 1–3 extension clients total.

I was told that being an extension specialist wasn’t realistic in Sherwood Park—or for me specifically. I’m so quiet, so why would a client ever want to spend an entire day with me and trust me with thousands of dollars worth of hair?

I stalked Kendall… long enough that I can officially refer to it as stalking. 😂 I didn’t follow her like a normal person. I searched her page every single day just to watch her stories and posts. At first, she was still in her double suite and had an apprentice. I was obsessed and just knew I wanted her to be my boss.

The only problem? I wasn’t an apprentice. So I just hoped and wished that one day she’d open a salon.

Then, the day I knew I had to leave the salon I was at, I found an ad from Kendall Sibanda // Salon Owner & Educator looking for licensed stylists. I immediately followed the page (finally), spam-liked as many posts as I could, and DM’d my résumé.

I was so worried there would be too many other stylists applying and that she’d never even see my message notification…

Four years later, I’m not only a blonding and extension specialist, but I’m also on my way to adding hair loss specialist to that list.

So much of my growth over these last four years as a stylist is because of Kendall. Thank you for believing in me when I only had, like, two clients follow me. ❤️
