We Stand With the Families Affected by the Tragic Incident at Tsawwassen Mills

I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred this morning at Tsawwassen Mills, where four pedestrians were struck by a vehicle. Two people have tragically lost their lives, while two others were injured and taken to hospital.

My heartfelt thoughts and condolences are with the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, and with everyone affected by this heartbreaking incident. I also wish the injured a full and speedy recovery.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to the police, firefighters, paramedics, healthcare professionals, and all first responders who responded quickly and compassionately during this extremely difficult situation.

According to Delta Police, preliminary information indicates that the driver may have experienced a medical emergency. Police have also confirmed that the incident was separate from the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation community walk taking place on Tsawwassen First Nation lands, and that there is no ongoing risk to public safety. 🏏🏐 6th Pendu Khed Mela Brings Surrey Community Together Through Sports & Celebration 🏆

Congratulations to Jashandeep Singh Sidhu, President of the International Student Union (ISU), and the entire organizing team for successfully hosting the 6th Pendu Khed Mela at Newton Athletic Park in Surrey.

The event brought together athletes, families, youth and community members for a wonderful day of sports, entertainment, community spirit and celebration. Cricket, volleyball, seep, tug-of-war, badminton, musical chairs and other family activities created an energetic and welcoming atmosphere.

It also brought back memories of my own days when I was very active in sports and athletics. I continue to stay connected with events like this because I strongly believe in encouraging health, fitness and active lifestyles among our youth.

The announcement of more than $20,000 in cash prizes, gifts and player rewards added to the excitement and recognized the dedication and talent of the participating athletes.

Most importantly, it was inspiring to see so many young people participate with enthusiasm while demonstrating their talent, energy and leadership. Seeing our youth succeed and actively contribute to their communities gives us great hope for the future. They have tremendous potential to become strong contributors and future leaders across Canada.

I sincerely appreciate the International Student Union and the organizing team for recognizing me as a Guest of Honour at this wonderful event. It was a privilege to be part of such a vibrant gathering and witness the spirit of sportsmanship, community connection and youth leadership.

Congratulations once again to the entire team on a successful 6th Pendu Khed Mela. Wishing you continued success with your future initiatives! 👏🏆

#2026 🇨🇦

Congratulations 💐to the INSPIRE EVENT / Inspire Dance Academy team for putting together a sold-out Dandiya Dhoom 2026 at the Cloverdale Agriplex in Surrey!
Bringing the "Queen of Dandiya," award winning - Falguni Pathak, to Metro Vancouver for her live performance in the area was a major milestone for the local South Asian community. Pulling off a sold-out Janmashtami Mohotsav celebration with thousands in attendance requires incredible effort, coordination, and vision.
Kudos to the entire production crew, organizers, and volunteers for setting a high standard for cultural events in British Columbia.
