Ever wonder why your serum rolls off in little balls the moment you add moisturiser? That's pilling, and it's not your skin rejecting the product. ✨
Here's what's usually going on:
• You layered too fast, give each step 60-90 seconds to sink in
• You're using too much product
• You're rubbing instead of pressing
• The formulas just aren't playing nicely together (hello, silicones + heavy creams)
The fix: thin layers, patience between steps, and press (don't rub) product into skin. Go thinnest to thickest, and let each one absorb before the next.
Pilling isn't a red flag on its own, it just means your product isn't getting the chance to actually do its job. A few small tweaks and you'll get way more out of every step in your routine. 🧴

"My skin is oily and it gets better in the sun, so I don't need sunscreen." This is one of the most common myths we hear, and it can actually make acne scarring worse.
Here's the science: post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (those dark marks left behind after a spot heals) darkens and takes longer to fade with UV exposure. Skipping SPF doesn't just risk sunburn, it can prolong the marks you're already trying to treat.
The good news: a lightweight, oil-free SPF won't make breakouts worse. The Colorescience No Show Mineral Sunscreen or Face Shield Matte is designed for acne-prone skin, with a matte finish and no pore-clogging ingredients.
Pair it with your treatment products each morning for the best results.

“My skin is oily and it gets better in the sun, so I don’t need sunscreen.” This is one of the most common myths we hear, and it can actually make acne scarring worse.

Sunscreen works best as the last step in your morning routine, but the products underneath matter too.
Here's a simple, sensitive-skin-friendly morning routine:
• Gentle cleanser - we love the Barrier Pro cleanser from Colorescience or the Zyderma Gentle Foaming Cleanser
• Soothing and hydrating serum to help calm redness and support the skin barrier - definitely check out the Epicutis Lipid Serum or the Roccoco Sensitive Skin Serum
• Lightweight moisturizer - our current favourite is the Neogenesis Light Moisturizer
• Colorescience sunscreen, applied generously (most people apply far less than the recommended amount)
A few evidence-based reminders:
Reapply sunscreen every two hours if you're outdoors
Two fingers' worth of product covers the face and neck
SPF is the single most effective step for preventing premature ageing and hyperpigmentation

This Miracle Mask will clear, clarify and smooth your skin while maintaining your natural healthy glow. This formula contains everything you need in a mask, HOCL + Oxygen + Diatomaceous Earth. Breakouts have no chance against these three powerful ingredients.
HOCL naturally occurs in your white blood cells which helps to defend your body from harmful bacteria and inflammation. Applying HOCL to the skin activates an immune boost that helps your skin stay healthy and clear.
Diatomaceous Earth (food grade) is a type of sand that contains fossilized algae. When Diatomaceous Earth is used on the skin it has exfoliating properties that will remove dead skin cells, detoxify the skin, help reduce breakouts and scarring.

Our goal is to provide evidence-based skincare advice and one of the most common products we see online with a ton of misinformation is sunscreen. Today we are addressing the much repeated notion that mineral sunscreens are better for the skin because they work by reflecting the UV rays whereas chemical sunscreens absorb the UV rays and convert them to heat on the skin.
The UV that hits a sunscreen can be either absorbed, reflected (including backscattering) or transmitted (including forward scattering). The UV that's transmitted goes into your skin, while the UV that's absorbed and reflected won't – that's the UV your skin is protected against.
The average range of reflection for zinc oxide and titanium dioxide throughout the UV range is actually only 4-5% (less than SPF 2), providing minimal UV protection via this mechanism.
The remainder of the UV protection is provided by absorbance of the UV photons.
Conclusion: Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide provide UV protection primarily via absorption of UV radiation and not through significant reflection or scattering.
So, in summary, just pick a sunscreen you like, wear it and reapply it.
