Salt water pool owners - this one is for you.

A lot of people assume their water is fine because they have a salt system running. Salt systems still produce chlorine, and when levels drift too high, the liner fades faster than it should. Test strips take about 10 seconds. Dip, shake, compare to the chart. That one habit protects a lot of money over time. If you have a Hayward automation system, you can also adjust your chlorinator output directly from the controller without touching any chemicals. We walk through all of it in this video.

Custom safety covers are made-to-measure. Lead times mean that homeowners who wait until September to order often cannot get one installed before the closing window.

If a new cover is on the list for this fall, July is when that conversation needs to start. Worth noting: a properly fitted safety cover supports a person's weight. It is not just about keeping leaves out.

Christine M. came to us for a liner replacement and equipment upgrade, then stayed for weekly service. The part we hear most from long-term clients is not the technical work. It is that they stop worrying about the pool and start using it. That is the goal every single time.

A weekly service visit from People for Pools is not someone coming to skim leaves. It covers water chemistry tested and adjusted, equipment inspected, filter checked, surfaces brushed, and results documented before the technician leaves.

July is the month when skipping even one visit tends to show up in the water. Weekly and bi-weekly schedules are available for the rest of the season at pfpools.com.

A pool in the backyard changes how people use the space. It stops being something you walk past and becomes the reason people come over on a Saturday afternoon in July.

For homeowners who have been thinking about what a backyard renovation would actually look like, pfpools.com has the portfolio to give you somewhere to start.

The liner colour you choose does not just change how the pool looks. It changes how the water reads.

Light colours make the water appear bright and tropical.
Darker blues and patterns make the water look deeper and richer.

Both are right - it comes down to what the homeowner is going for and how the yard is lit.

If a liner replacement is on the list for this fall, this is the decision worth making early. Start the conversation at pfpools.com.

Algae does not care about your chlorine level as much as it cares about your water temperature. When the water climbs above 28 degrees Celsius and your sanitizer is even slightly low, the conditions are set.

July in the GTA routinely hits that threshold. The fix is straightforward: check levels more often during heat waves, keep the pump running longer during peak heat days, and brush the walls and floor before you see green - not after.

Happy Canada Day from everyone at People for Pools. July 1 in a GTA backyard with the pool open - there are worse ways to spend the long weekend. Hope yours is exactly that. We will be back Thursday. Service and booking info at pfpools.com.

A pool built well is a 30 to 40 year asset. The decisions that determine that lifespan - shell material, plumbing layout, equipment quality, drainage engineering - are made before anything goes in the ground. June is a good time to see what those decisions look like in practice, because the pools finishing now were designed with them in mind.

Pools that get heavy use in June need more frequent chemistry checks than pools used twice a week. Sunscreen, body oils, and high swimmer load throw off chlorine demand faster than most people expect. It is not a flaw in the pool - it is just how the chemistry works. Adjust the schedule, not the worry.
