Well, this was a surprise! 🥉😭

We found out we were nominated for Best Hair Salon in the Georgia Straight’s 30th annual Best of Vancouver just a few days before voting closed, and somehow you all got us onto the podium anyway. 🤯

We’re a little independent shop in Mount Pleasant, so seeing our name up there next to some of the biggest salons in the city has us feeling very shocked and very humbled. 🫶🫶🫶

Thank you to every single person who voted, booked, referred a friend, or sat in our chairs this year. To our amazing talented gorgeous team, this one is all ours!

Nine years of unicorn hair this Sunday. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate.

Our favourite season has arrived. 💀✨

Turns out the secret to looking incredible is lying very still in a damp forest for several months.

Why we call it Unicorn Hair

Everyone else calls it vivid, or punky or crazy colour.

Vivid just means bright. Natural colours can be vivid too. Punky is from the subculture it was all born from. And crazy is what people say when they mean wrong. (Yes we know it’s all also a brand name, but that further exemplifies the limits)

None of those really cover it.

Unicorns are dream-like creatures. They have a giant magical mythology. They bring joy. They exist beyond gender. They have never once blended in.

Seems like a better description to us. And that’s why they are all over our salon. Try counting them next time you’re in. (We’re always finding new ones 🤣)
