Five years with Rae means five years of big energy, big laughs, and clients who leave feeling truly heard and refreshed; she loves a big before and after moment, whether it is through a cut or color.  Rae brings positive vibes and musical flair to the staff room and is often singing in the back while mixing color, getting songs stuck in our heads all day long (they are a big Miley fan)! Outside of the salon, Rae takes pride in their community of friends, adventuring, playing sports, hanging out with their partner, and volunteering their time at a local youth shelter, connecting with and doing haircuts for at risk youth. The thing I respect most about Rae is that I can honestly say I never hear them talk poorly of someone. They do not gossip, and I really love how much Rae cherishes the relationship they have with their mom. Rae has such a good heart.
Rae is currently working four days a week but is going to be taking a few months off starting next month, so book in soon if you hope to see them before they head out! WENDY WENDY WENDY!
Ten years ago, a cautious but curious young stylist from Saskatchewan walked through the doors of Fish with bright purple and blue hair and a Disney princess bow, and Donna hired her as a stylist. Fun Fact: back in Saskatoon, Wendy worked at the same salons I used to go to in high school.
We connected right away and ate a LOT of pizza. She was pretty picky when she arrived, but now eats almost everything.
Wendy asked a lot of questions and always took advice and suggestions well, and it shows. She's one of the most prebooked stylists at the salon, and has one of the highest client retentions. That's impressive. She doesn't just work hard, she cares deeply. She looks out for her teammates, checks in, and always makes new staff feel welcome. She cares deeply for the people she loves too, making time for them and showing up when they need her.
Wendy's skills run across the board, from short cuts to vivid colours to perms. She's well rounded and always down to try something new. She's worn plenty of fun colours herself over the years, and I think bright orange has had the longest run. When it fades a little, she jokes that it looks natural. 😜
She's also gone on a number of career development trips: LA for R+Co On Tour with Taylor and Julie, Amsterdam for Goldwell Global Zoom with myself, Antonia and Amy, and Vancouver for countless classes and events with the brands we carry. After the Amsterdam I met up with Wendy and Amy in Greece. We explored the island of Naxos and then Athens. It was one for the memory books!
Wendy truly cares about the culture and craft of hairdressing and helping mentor our up and coming stylists.
Her curiosity goes way beyond hair. She loves travel and nature, and I don't know anyone who has explored more of Vancouver Island her.. Rivers, caves, unmarked trails, camping on the beach, an eye for the design in nature. That same curiosity shines through in everything she does. She can be quiet, but she's definitely a thinker, and I'm so grateful for everything she brings to the team and to Fish.
Today, Wendy is off to Equador for a month with Amy and Maddy! Have an incredible trip!

10 YEARS OF TAYLOR!
A decade of talent and laughter behind the chair, our fiery redhead Taylor is near and dear to the hearts of the Fish Fam. Taylor is obsessed with dimension and blend and nailing the perfect tone. She makes what she does looks effortless, but I know how much heart goes into her work.
Beyond the chair, Taylor is chill and fun rolled into one. l admire Taylor's need for adventure and travel, whether its a NYC weekend with the girlfriends, a jampacked Europe trip, gettin hitched in Vegas, or fishing and weekending up in Black Creek with her puppy and partner John. I love how compassionate she is for animals and the joy that anyone's pet brings her.
Most of our time together is spent either talking about toner formulas or trading restaurant recs and telling each other where to go next for the best steak tartare or burger in town. 😊 (suggestions always welcome)
Here's to 10 incredible years, Taylor! It's been amazing to see how much you've grown. Fish adores you! ❤️✂️🔥 🎆
