At Remedy we approach patient care from a biopsychosocial perspective. That’s why we offer counselling alongside our manual therapies. We love Gabor Mate’s work and encourage our followers to check out this free online event. We’re here if you need us too.
We're hiring at Remedy! Seeking an RMT and a Physiotherapist to join our team!
Ever wonder what your acupuncturist is checking for when they look at your tongue? 👅
It's called tongue diagnosis — one of the oldest diagnostic tools in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Your practitioner is assessing the color, coating, shape, and moisture of your tongue, which can offer clues about imbalances happening elsewhere in the body — often before you'd notice symptoms yourself.
Paired with pulse reading, it's one of the ways our acupuncturists build a treatment plan that's actually specific to you, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
We wrote a full breakdown on our blog, including what to expect at your next visit — https://remedywellness.ca/acupuncture-posts/tongue-diagnosis-in-chinese-medicine/

An interesting read…
How acupuncture really works For years, acupuncture has faced skepticism. Now, new research suggests it doesn’t just distract pain—it may actually change how the body processes it. Here’s what scientists are uncovering.
This is cute. October is Menopause Awareness Month! Something our acupuncturists can help you get through with regular hormone balancing treatments. Book a free phone consultation with Caroline O’Hara or Leo Cottle to learn more about “Cougar Puberty”
Meet Caroline O'Hara, Registered Acupuncturist 🌿
Caroline has been practicing acupuncture for over a decade, mostly at Remedy Wellness Centre, but her path here started in mental health. She holds a psychology degree from Mount Allison University and a social services diploma from Seneca College, and worked in the mental health field before training in acupuncture at Pacific Rim College.
That background shapes everything about how she practices. Caroline focuses on the relationship between physical pain and mental/emotional well-being — treating chronic and acute pain, stress and anxiety, hormonal imbalances, insomnia, digestive issues, fertility concerns, and allergies, all while keeping the mind-body connection front and centre. She practices both Traditional Chinese and Five Elements acupuncture, with a gentle needling technique and a strong focus on patient education — making sure you understand your treatment and what to expect every step of the way.
Caroline has also been recognized multiple times in Victoria Votes' "Best Acupuncturist" category.
Caroline is currently accepting new patients.
Small market, big heart 🧡
You'll usually find a few familiar faces from Remedy wandering Moss Street on a Saturday — not working, just supporting the local makers, growers, and small businesses that make this city feel like home. Local business supporting local business is kind of our whole vibe.
Shop small, shop local, shop Moss Street.

UPDATE: Due to an amazing response from our community, our freezers are now full of acorns and other wild nuts! As we no longer have the space, we will no longer be accepting acorn donations. We are, however, still looking for berries and other fruits! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated!
Our wild patients are getting hungry, and we need your help! Wild ARC is currently looking for donations of acorns to help feed squirrels and other critters in care. If you're able to collect some during your yard clean-up, we'd be grateful for any donations. Please ensure all acorns are ethically and responsibly harvested, leaving plenty behind for local wildlife.
We're also hoping to restock our freezers with berries of all kinds. Blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, and any other wild or garden-grown berries are welcome. These are a favourite food of many of the songbirds and other wildlife we care for.
Please note, we have a whole ton of wind-fallen apples and do not need any more at this time! Thank you to our wonderful community for their generosity.
Every acorn and berry helps provide nutritious, species-appropriate diets for animals on their road to recovery. Thank you for supporting local wildlife!
Team field trip: Moss Street Market edition 🧺💐
There's nothing like a Saturday morning wander through Moss Street — local veggies, flowers, baked goods, and some of the best small businesses in Victoria, all in one place. Our team loves showing up for our neighbours the same way you show up for us.
Shopping local isn't just a nice idea around here — it's how this community stays strong. Every stall, every maker, every small business supporting another small business adds up.
