it’s my last few days here in mulranny … it’s been raining a lot which has been brilliant for my knitting .., working on some new cables hats and bags for winter .., it’s been so lovely to have given myself the time to try new things…

ok thanks for the reminder … here are some of the things i’ve been working on with .rannygiftofhands … repurposing jumper remnants and wool strips to make baskets and neck warmers and felted bags with sheep on them !!! this craft shop gets an endless supply of textiles that would otherwise end up in the landfill and these wonderful ladies have been creating products out of them for 18 years … all voluntary and non profit.. and donating funds back into their community … it’s been so inspiring to be here with them all and learning from them ..

another beautiful day in mulranny co. mayo … it’s been a very special week for me here on the west coast of ireland working with .rannygiftofhands through the centre and it’s been phenomenal to meet so many wonderful women who have the joy of making things with their hands and love coming together as a community … and i get to swim and walk and explore this incredible country as well … one more week to go ..

…. it’s been quite rainy here for the last couple of days and i’ve been working in a few projects that haven’t been working very well so when the sun came out this afternoon i decided to go to the beach …. best decision ever … taking a break was exactly what i needed …

gentle chimes a babbling brook and some breezy flowers all made a magic little moment for me today in mulranny… i started some projects today and i’ve giving myself some time for a lot of trial and error … developing new products sometimes feels like a big waste of time when your ideas don’t match you make but sometimes it’s just all about the doing and eventually you get something you are proud of even if it’s not what you imagined in the beginning …

it’s rare for me to post anything personal but i wanted to share my next couple of weeks in this beautiful part of western ireland , we all know how hard its is to take time for yourself as a mum and a business owner and everything else we are responsible for in our daily lives but i have had the opportunity to be an artist in residence here and having felt a bit stuck creatively recently i am taking the time to work on some new projects and help out with a creative organization they have called Gift Of Hands ….. i will post more during my time as i really want to share my experience with these wonderful people and magical place …
