POV: When the body needs nourishment, but fear has turned every plate into an argument.

Did cancer treatment make you afraid of food?

When appetite disappears and nausea takes over, the pressure to follow a “perfect cancer diet” can become another burden.

This is Day 12 of THE QUESTIONS YOU KEEP ASKING ME - A 30-Day Honest Cancer Survival Teaching Series.

Today’s message is for patients and caregivers who need to hear this: nourishment during active treatment should be practical, compassionate, and guided by your medical team - not driven by guilt, fear, or unverified internet advice.

Ask for support. Take small steps. Work with your oncology team or dietitian. Your body needs care, not punishment.

If you missed Days 1-11, please go back and watch them. Share this with someone struggling to eat during treatment.

Have you ever been having an ordinary day when one memory suddenly changed everything?

Nothing new happened.

Nobody called.

No fresh offence occurred.

Yet within minutes, your peace disappeared because your mind returned to a painful place that your body had already survived.

This is one of the quiet ways old wounds regain access to our present.

We replay what was said.

We imagine what we should have done differently.

We reconstruct conversations that can no longer be changed.

And while the event remains in the past, the emotions become painfully current.

Recently, I experienced this for myself. The memories became so overwhelming that I knew silence was no longer strength. I sent my pastor an SOS because I needed support.

There is no shame in recognizing when you need help.

Healing does not mean you will never remember. It means learning how to remember without allowing the memory to take control of your entire day.

When the past comes knocking, you do not have to give it permanent accommodation.

Pause.

Ground yourself in the present.

Speak to someone you trust.

Pray without pretending.

And remind yourself: “I am remembering what happened, but I am not living there anymore.”

Have you ever carried something for so long that you stopped recognizing it as a burden?

Sometimes pain becomes familiar.

We become accustomed to the regret, the guilt, the unanswered questions, the betrayal, or the words that changed how we see ourselves.

We learn how to function around it.

We smile.

We work.

We show up.

But beneath the surface, that old weight continues to affect our peace, confidence, relationships, and decisions.

Not everything you survived was meant to become part of your identity.

Some experiences were chapters, not permanent definitions.

And sometimes freedom does not begin when every question is answered. It begins when you decide that the past will no longer determine the emotional weight of your present.

Perhaps the burden has stayed long enough.

Perhaps today is the day you stop treating it like something you must carry forever.

Why do problems that felt manageable during the day suddenly become enormous at night?

The house becomes quiet, the distractions disappear, and your mind begins another shift.

You revisit conversations.

You imagine everything that could go wrong.

You try to find answers to questions that cannot be solved before morning.

And although your body is lying down, your mind is still working overtime.

But staying awake will not make you more powerful over what you cannot control.

Sometimes the most faithful thing you can do is admit:

“I have done what I can for today. The rest is beyond me.”

You do not have to supervise God through the night.

You do not have to remain anxious to prove that the situation matters to you.

Perhaps peace begins when you stop demanding an answer tonight and trust that tomorrow can meet you with fresh strength.

POV: Everyone sees a fighter, but nobody sees how tired the fighter has become.

Sometimes survival does not look brave or inspirational. Sometimes it looks like doing one small thing while every part of you is exhausted.

This is Day 11 of THE QUESTIONS YOU KEEP ASKING ME - A 30-Day Honest Cancer Survival Teaching Series.

Today’s message is for anyone who feels tired of fighting: you do not need strength for the entire journey today. You only need enough for the next necessary step.

Missed Days 1-10? Please go back and follow the journey from the beginning.

Did you ever feel like giving up? Yes, and that does not mean the fight was over.

There comes a point when even encouragement becomes exhausting.

You become tired of appointments, treatments, questions, hospital rooms, and constantly being told to stay strong.

This is Day 11 of THE QUESTIONS YOU KEEP ASKING ME - A 30-Day Honest Cancer Survival Teaching Series.

Today’s teaching is about the quiet victories nobody applauds, the moments when simply showing up, asking for help, or completing one small task becomes an act of courage.

You do not have to feel powerful before you take the next step.

If you missed Days 1-10, please go back and watch them. Share this with someone who is exhausted from fighting a battle most people cannot see.

Have you ever noticed that the strongest people are often the least checked on?

They’re the ones everyone calls for advice.

The ones who encourage others, pray for others, solve problems, and carry burdens that nobody else even sees.

People assume they’re fine because they always appear strong.

But strength does not mean you never get tired.

Sometimes the person who keeps asking, “How are you?” desperately needs someone to ask the same question in return.

Perhaps today is your reminder that God never asked you to neglect yourself while caring for everyone else.

You are allowed to rest.
You are allowed to receive.
You are allowed to admit that you need encouragement too.

Have you ever noticed how uncomfortable many of us become when we are doing... absolutely nothing?

The moment we sit down, we start thinking about unfinished tasks. We reach for our phones. We convince ourselves we should be working, helping someone, replying to messages, or planning the next thing.

Somewhere along the way, many of us began to believe that slowing down meant falling behind.

But what if that belief isn’t true?

What if the pause you’ve been resisting is exactly what your heart, mind, and body have been asking for?

Sometimes we become so focused on producing that we forget God is also interested in restoring us.

Perhaps today isn’t about doing more.

Perhaps it’s about becoming healthy enough to continue the journey well.

Until the next broadcast, keep rebuilding. Wholeness is your portion.

When was the last time you gave yourself credit for something that nobody else could see?

People often celebrate visible achievements, - a new job, a wedding, a home, a qualification, a financial breakthrough. But some of the greatest victories in life never come with photographs or public announcements.

Perhaps you no longer react the way you once did.

Perhaps you finally walked away from what kept wounding you.

Perhaps you found the courage to begin again, ask for help, forgive yourself, or keep believing after a painful disappointment.

These victories may not receive applause, but they matter.

Sometimes we become so focused on the next destination that we fail to recognise the transformation already taking place within us.

Before you conclude that nothing is changing, compare your present strength with the person you used to be.

You may not have everything you desire yet, but you have evidence that God has been working.

What quiet victory in your life deserves to be acknowledged tonight?
