We've been pretty vocal that we really like Cysteamine; other than 🌽, we really can't imagine a more beautiful thing.
We'll admit to having a fondness for Cysteamine, especially when paired with Isobionic-Amide, that doesn't mean the other alternatives aren't great solutions either.
We know by now that there is no quick fix to hyperpigmentation. Addressing stubborn dyschromia concerns is a process that needs time, patience and compliance with your dermatologist-recommended program.
Hydroquinone was considered the gold standard for a long time and is still working for people today. Other topical agents such as tranexamic acid, kojic acid, arbutin, azelaic acid, retinoids, and hydroxy acids usually show lower efficacy. Still, every case is unique, and what works for you may not work for most.

Cyspera vs hydroquinone:
Although the question being posed was, "Cyspera vs. hydroquinone?" The answer isn't as simple as one or the other. Both options are backed by science and have extensive research showing results. What it comes down to is what works for you. Although it can take time to find the right combination that works for you, working with a board-certified dermatologist like Dr. Love can help expedite the process.
In her post, says that she prescribes hydroquinone every day, but only for short periods and in cases of well-defined pigmentation.
Cyspera can be used daily, and she recommends it mostly for long-term and large surface area treatment.

We attended the Skin of Color Update () meeting, and we're already looking forward to the next one. The SOCU meeting is committed to filling in the gaps in education and training that have contributed to disparities in the dermatologic and aesthetic treatment of patients with skin of color.
Hyperpigmentation can affect anyone. Melasma is a disorder of melanocytes, the cells that produce skin pigmentation. Those with darker skin are more likely to experience the condition making it more prevalent in women of color.
This meeting is so important to us, and we hold the entire community close to our hearts. As long as people are struggling with hyperpigmentation, we will work hard to come up with solutions
