B2B AI tools to cultivate transparency in the beauty industry.

Photos from Inference Beauty's post 30/09/2026

Most beauty eCommerce experiences are still asking shoppers to do too much work.

Search.
Filter.
Compare.
Decode ingredients.
Guess their shade.
Read 40 reviews.

Hoping the recommendation is right.
And then we wonder why consumers hesitate.

After seeing hundreds of beauty shopping journeys, we keep noticing the same problems:

→ Generic recommendations
→ Questions that don't actually influence the results
→ Product information without context
→ Recommendations without reasoning
→ Fragrance discovery treated like every other category
→ Conversion optimization without addressing uncertainty
→ Valuable customer signals disappearing after checkout

None of these are necessarily technology problems.
They're experience-design problems.

The brands that get beauty eCommerce right won't simply give shoppers more products to choose from.
They'll help them make better decisions with less effort.

Because sometimes the best digital shopping experience isn't the one that helps you discover 50 products.

It's the one that helps you confidently eliminate 49 of them.

It's incredibly rewarding to see Beauty Independent recognize that evolution, from a skincare-focused technology to a broader beauty personalization platform.

When we started in 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟳, 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 described exactly what we were building: a smarter way to match people with skincare products based on their individual needs.

But beauty didn't stay in one category.
Neither did we.

Today, Inference Beauty powers personalized discovery across skincare, makeup, fragrance, haircare, and body care, using product data, ingredient intelligence, behavioral insights, and AI to help shoppers make better decisions.

From foundation shade matching to fragrance discovery and ingredient transparency, our focus has evolved from:

"What matches your skin?" to "What actually fits you?"
That's why we became Inference Beauty.

In data science, inference means drawing conclusions from evidence, context, and learning.

That's exactly what we're building: a smarter layer between what customers are looking for and what beauty catalogs have to offer.

The name changed.
The mission didn't:

Make beauty discovery more personalized, transparent, and inclusive.

We're not just matching anymore.
We're understanding.

28/09/2026

Nobody wants more beauty products.
They want fewer wrong ones.

And I think the beauty industry has spent years getting this backwards.

We keep adding:

More shades.
More serums.
More fragrance launches.
More collections.
More “new & trending.”

Then we wonder why customers hesitate.

At some point, a catalog stops feeling like choice and starts feeling like homework.

The customer doesn't want to spend 20 minutes figuring out which of your 300 moisturizers is right for them.

They want to know: Which one should I buy?”

That's where 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 becomes powerful.

Not when it gives someone 17 recommendations instead of 300.
When it confidently gets them closer to the one or two that actually fit.

I've seen this across skincare, makeup, fragrance, and haircare: the more complex the assortment, the more valuable good guidance becomes.

And good guidance isn't just “recommended for you.”
It means understanding the details that actually change the decision:

Skin concerns.
Ingredients.
Shade.
Hair type.
Fragrance preferences.
Sensitivities.
Budget.
What they already use.

Because the goal of personalization isn't to show customers that you know a lot about them.
It's to make choosing easier.

The best beauty experience might not be the one that helps me discover 100 products.

It might be the one that saves me from choosing the wrong one.

More choice isn't always more valuable. Sometimes it's just more work.

What do you think: has beauty e-commerce reached the point where we need to help customers choose less?

Follow for more.

We're proud to be featured by Beauty Independent in a deep dive into how we're using AI and beauty data to create better digital shopping experiences.

The article explores something we've believed from the beginning:
AI is only as valuable as the data behind it.

For beauty, that means going far beyond basic inputs like skin type or climate.

It's about understanding ingredients, formulations, preferences, behavior, and what makes one product genuinely different from another.

As Estella shared in the article: “The technology is often the same. The data is different.”

And that difference matters.

Because when better data powers personalization, AI can do more than recommend a product.

It can help a customer understand why that product fits.
It can turn a confusing beauty catalog into a guided experience.

And it can help brands turn anonymous shopping interactions into meaningful first-party data.

We're also seeing an important shift ahead:
The way consumers discover beauty is changing.

Search is evolving. AI shopping is evolving. Product recommendations are evolving.

Brands won't just need great products.

They'll need the data infrastructure to make those products discoverable, understandable, and trustworthy.

We're excited to be part of that evolution, and grateful to Beauty Independent for highlighting the work we're doing at Inference Beauty.

We're not just building better recommendations. We're helping build the next layer of beauty commerce.

Something we’re very proud to share:
Inference Beauty has been nominated for Tech Platform of the Year at the 2026 Beacon Awards by Beauty Independent. 🏆

And honestly, this one means a little more to us.

Because we didn’t set out to build “𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺.”

We spent years solving a much more fundamental problem:
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁, 𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀?

Today, that means AI-powered personalization, ingredient intelligence, product discovery, shade matching, fragrance discovery, and much more.

Beauty Independent describes the Technology Platforms category as recognizing the companies helping beauty businesses “modernize workflows, unlock actionable data, and build resilient, future-ready businesses.”

That is exactly the direction we’ve been building toward.
So yes, we’re proud.

But we’re even more excited about what this recognition says about where beauty is heading.

Technology is no longer sitting on the sidelines of beauty.
It’s becoming part of the infrastructure.

Thank you to the Beauty Independent team for recognizing Inference Beautyalongside some incredible companies.

Now… let’s see what happens next. 👀

Most beauty retailers don't have a product problem.
They have a discovery problem.

Customers struggle to:
- find the right foundation
- understand ingredients
- compare products
- choose fragrances online
- navigate thousands of SKUs

That's where we're focusing.

Visit us at NRF 2026: Retail’s Big Show Europe to see how brands like Acqua di Parma, Fragrancenet.com, 𝗗𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮, 𝗞𝗶𝗲𝗵𝗹'𝘀, 𝗜𝗧 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 and others are improving customer confidence through AI-powered beauty experiences.

Beauty shopping has changed more in the last three years than in the previous ten.

Customers don't just want more products.
They want better guidance.

And they're asking AI for recommendations.
Comparing ingredients.
Searching by skin concern instead of brand.
Expecting personalized experiences from the very first click.

At NRF 2026: Retail’s Big Show Europe, we'll be sharing how beauty brands and retailers are responding to that shift.

If improving product discovery and customer confidence is on your roadmap for 2027, let's connect in Paris.

Every beauty retailer I speak with is asking a version of the same question: “𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘀 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿?”

That's exactly the conversation I'll be having at NRF 2026: Retail’s Big Show Europe this September.

If you're a beauty brand or retailer looking to improve product discovery, personalization, ingredient transparency, or AI-powered shopping experiences, I'd love to meet you.
