With +/- 150 plants🪴 in and around my house I live in a mosquito 🦟 rich environment. I've been taking actions to reduce these pesky creatures in around my living area. Considering the environment, I don't want to spray chemicals 💀 and I don't want to live with less green in and around the house for it helps keeping my house, and my mind, cool. After meeting with Pieter from Agrinature, and doing some research I agreed upon testing the Biogents AG Mosquito Traps. I had seen it in public at hotels and wondered how it would work at home. Well, here are my findings: The Biogents Mosquito Trap works as advertised. I put it next to my air-conditioning water buckets where I collect the water for my plants. Normally these buckets have larves in them within 24 hours. This time, after a week of lots of rain I found only three larves in the water buckets. The Biogents Mosquito Trap however was filled with at least 50 mosquitos. Leaving my bedroom window open which is about a meter from the buckets, normally invited the mosquitos inside, they still pay their unwelcomed visits, but there are less because the Biogents Mosquito Trap releases an artificial human odor to attract the mosquitos and when the mosquitos come close they get sucked in by the vaccuum of the trap. One week is of course too short to get a full picture but I see the benefit of the Biogents system especially combined with the other Biogent Mosquito Traps like the BG-Home and the BG-Gat. Less chance for Zika, Chikungunya and Dengue? ✍️ Sign me up! Living in the Caribbean, it's inevitable.. Hurricane Season, returns every year again! A period which can hold surprises, as predictions and forecasts.. are just that! What 2024 has in store.. we can not know for certain, but some say it might become a busy season! Keep in mind that with good preparation a lot of trouble can be prevented. Therefor we want to start out our eco & island tips series with a few hurricane prep-tips.

Officially hurricane season runs within this period, but as its a natural event, realize that its only an approximation. It has already begun, so if you haven't started any preparations.. its a good idea to do so a.s.a.p! We'll be sharing a few more tips on this subject in the coming period.

This was not just a change of looks! What we admire about the brands we represent is that they are committed to be or become more sustainable. In the example of Raw Elements, one of the better options available on our islands when it comes to reef & skin safe sunscreen, we were happy that they kept their promise to work on more sustainable packaging. By educating yourself and by implementing what you learn.. we are pretty sure that you'll learn or already know that normal suncreens are bad for the reefs (and often also not good for yourself) Look for alternatives and make the switch! Research shows that mineral sunscreens, based on non-nano zinc, have the least negative effect on nature and offers the best protection for your skin. Today is World Reef Day!!! The wellbeing of the reefs are crucial for our wellbeing.. many people still don't realise this! We are proud to represent in the Caribbean, they are one of the best reef-safe-sunscreen options out there and have there hearts in the right place.. they are the ones that took the initiative to start to create more ! And it's working.. slowly but surely.. we hope someday that people and shops need a little less convincing to switch and offer reef-safe-sunscreens.
