Usui Reiki Ryōhō and channeling are not the same practice.
Usui Reiki Ryōhō is based on resonance. Through consistent practice, training, and specific techniques, the practitioner develops the ability to enter and maintain resonance with Reiki energy, both for personal practice and when working with others.
As Reiki spread in the West after World War II, it became increasingly influenced by and combined with different healing and energetic practices. Today, Reiki is sometimes described as a form of channeling.
I studied channeling in 2023 out of curiosity, wanting to understand the technique from within. After years of personal experience, I now see a fundamental difference.
In channeling, the practitioner prepares to become an empty vessel for information perceived as coming from an external source—through words, images, signs, sensations, or other forms of expression.
In Usui Reiki Ryōhō, we do not become a vessel or receive messages. We maintain our sense of self, empty the mind, and remain in resonance with Reiki, entering the meditative/contemplative state known as Munen Musō 無念無想.
We are not transmitting information. We are listening to the body-mind system and applying Reiki through the techniques we have learned and an accurate diagnosis that can be done in the advanced stages of training.
Reiki is the information itself. It does not need to be interpreted—it needs to be directed through practice, presence, and study.
And this is why experience matters:
Through practice, we have experiences.
Through experiences, we find our own answers.

Mudras are specific positions of the hands, eyes, or body that represent a symbol or seal. They create a connection or alignment within the body that can support, stimulate, or harmonize certain physical, mental, and spiritual processes.
Their use originated in Asia, although there is no precise date for their origins. Mudras are widely shared across different traditions and countries, including Hinduism, Indian classical dance, Buddhism, and various forms of Yoga, such as Hatha and Kundalini.
In Traditional Japanese Reiki, certain Mudras derived from Shingon Buddhist tradition are used for specific purposes, either as preparatory practices or as symbolic and ceremonial gestures involving the hands and fingers.
One of the best-known practices is Gassho Seishin Toitsu, the practice of bringing the hands together. Here, the Namaskara or Atmanjali Mudra is combined with a specific technique that helps us enter into resonance with a particular frequency, meditate with it, and prepare ourselves to begin the practice.
Within the human system, the fingers can be understood as part of an energetic circuit, with each finger connected to the body’s energy meridians, as described in both Traditional Chinese Medicine (from which Traditional Japanese Reiki mostly refers) and Ayurveda. Bringing these points into connection can therefore support and stimulate specific internal and external aspects. The practice can be chosen for either therapeutic or meditative-contemplative purposes.
With regular practice, Mudras can become a profound therapeutic tool and a means of deep inner work, supporting personal development and self-realization.
The use of Mudras in Reiki therefore has specific reasons and techniques. Not every Mudra should be used simply at will. It is important to learn how to use them correctly in order to experience their true potential.

Traditional Japanese Reiki Courses are officially starting this September!
I’m happy to announce my upcoming Reiki Teaching Program, starting very soon in Berlin, Prenzlauer Berg, at my studio Olistica Akasha Home. 🌿
How I teach Reiki
The Reiki I teach is rooted in the therapeutic method developed by Chujiro Hayashi, with a strong emphasis on understanding and addressing imbalances within the body. My approach is practical, essential, and accessible, focusing on the relationship between body and mind rather than on the spiritual or metaphysical interpretations that became more prominent as Reiki evolved in the West.
My teaching is also informed by the historical and anthropological research on Reiki, including the work of Justin B. Stein, whose research has contributed to a deeper understanding of Reiki’s development, transmission, and transformation across different cultural contexts.
I have also had the privilege of studying with my teacher Federico Scotti, whose anthropological approach and teachings have been an important part of my own understanding and practice of traditional Japanese Reiki.
I keep the practice simple and open to everyone because I believe—and have experienced—that anyone can learn and benefit from Reiki. There is no need to already follow a spiritual path or hold particular spiritual or animistic beliefs in order to practice Reiki effectively.
I am happy to support you as you learn the techniques and continue your Reiki practice beyond the course. To me, being a teacher means much more than simply guiding students during training. It means being present over time—supporting consistency, encouraging personal development, and accompanying you as your practice naturally grows and deepens.🤍

I first encountered Reiki in 2018, initially as a therapy. It quite literally helped save my mental health, becoming one of the foundations of my healing journey through CPTSD and trauma. It transformed my relationship with my body, deepened my artistic practice (because I have never stopped being an artist), and showed me the importance of working on ourselves before we can truly support others.
In 2019, I began studying and practising Reiki. Very quickly, I realised it was something that naturally resonated with me—a practice I could always return to during difficult moments. My curiosity continued to grow, leading me to explore its therapeutic applications in greater depth and to develop a more conscious understanding of Reiki as a healing discipline.
I completed my 3rd Level in 2021, each level was always followed by an intense period of self-practice which lead me to take time to integrate everything I’ve learned. In 2024, I started my teacher apprenticeship because I wanted to understand more deeply not only how Reiki can be taught, but why we teach it in the way we do, and how to offer it with greater awareness and integrity.
Revisiting the entire learning path gave me the opportunity to study far beyond the techniques themselves. I immersed myself in the historical context of Japanese spiritual traditions, including Shugendō, as well as Medical Anthropology, Energy Medicine, and the ways in which colonial perspectives have shaped Western interpretations of cultures and healing traditions that originate elsewhere. This journey has enriched my practice enormously and strengthened my commitment to teaching Reiki with respect for both its origins and its contemporary therapeutic value.
My heartfelt thanks go to my teachers, Federico Scotti and Daniela Cannillo of My Reiki in Milan, for their outstanding programme and for their continuous support in training professional Reiki therapists and teachers.
I look forward to accompanying new students on their Reiki journey with the same care, curiosity, and dedication that has guided my own. Courses in Berlin are starting soon! Stay tuned.

What "getting ready" means to me 💪 😉💃🏋️
Colleagues, which is your best way to prepare for a full day of work?
For me this is the second warm up, I usually start my morning with some movement before breakfast. And then few exercises before starting to give treatment, in order to be present in the now.
