The FOUR muscles that have the biggest impact on your lower back health:
👉 Psoas
👉 Transversus Abdominis
👉 Gluteus Maximus
👉 Diaphragm
When people think about lower back pain, they usually focus on the vertebrae and discs. But the truth is, these structures are mostly passive. They adapt to the forces placed on them by the muscles surrounding them.
What often determines how much stress reaches the spine isn't the spine itself—it's how well these four key muscles work together.
Think of them as a team. If one member isn't doing its job properly, the others have to compensate. Just like a car can't function optimally with one wheel missing, your body can't maintain perfect balance when one part of the system falls behind.
1️⃣ The Psoas – The Pulling Force
The psoas attaches directly to the lumbar spine and pulls it forward and downward.
When it becomes tight—often due to prolonged sitting, inactivity, or chronic stress—it can change the way forces are distributed through the lower back and increase mechanical stress on certain structures.
The tighter the psoas becomes, the harder it may be for the rest of the system to maintain balance.
2️⃣ The Transversus Abdominis – Your Natural Back Brace
This deep abdominal muscle wraps around your torso like a corset.
Its main role is to create intra-abdominal pressure, helping stabilize the spine from the inside out.
A well-functioning transversus abdominis reduces unnecessary strain on the back muscles and supports healthy spinal mechanics.
When it becomes underactive, more load may be transferred directly to passive structures such as the discs and ligaments.
3️⃣ The Gluteus Maximus – Stability From Below
Your glutes are among the strongest muscles in the body and play a vital role in pelvic stability.
Walking, climbing stairs, standing up, and many everyday movements rely on strong, active glutes.
When they aren't doing their job, the lower back often has to compensate—sometimes thousands of times throughout the day.
4️⃣ The Diaphragm – The Forgotten Stabilizer
Most people associate the diaphragm only with breathing, but it also plays an important role in spinal stability.
Every breath contributes to intra-abdominal pressure and trunk support.
When breathing becomes shallow due to stress, poor posture, or other factors, the diaphragm may not contribute as effectively to stability, affecting the entire system.
Why the System Matters More Than the Individual Muscles
These muscles never work alone.
🔹 A tight psoas can force the core to work harder.
🔹 A weak core can make the back muscles overcompensate.
🔹 Inactive glutes can increase stress on the lower back.
🔹 Poor diaphragm function can disrupt the entire stabilization pattern.
One weakness can easily amplify another.
The Most Surprising Part
Research and clinical experience consistently show that MRI findings do not always match symptoms.
Many people have disc bulges, degeneration, or other spinal changes without any pain at all.
Meanwhile, others experience recurring lower back pain despite having little or no significant structural findings.
This is why movement quality, muscle coordination, breathing patterns, and load management are often just as important—if not more important—than what appears on an imaging report.
The goal isn't simply to focus on the discs or vertebrae.
The goal is to restore balance within the system.
When the psoas, deep core, glutes, and diaphragm work together effectively, they create a more supportive environment for the spine and help the lower back function the way it was designed to.
💪 A strong back isn't just about strong muscles. It's about muscles working together.

Stop 🛑 What do cupping marks actually mean?
This post was created because we often use this technique as an additional treatment. Many people are scared by it.
Maybe this post will help you see clearly and reduce your worries.
Cupping marks are not random.
They show how blood is moving through the tissue and reveal areas of restriction, tension, and recovery. 🟤🔴🟠🟡
🤓 Important to understand
FYI: Cupping mark color is influenced by tissue condition, suction strength, and how long the cups are left on the body.
The color change comes from blood being drawn to the surface and how the tissue responds.
⚫ Dark purple to black marks indicate long term stagnation. Circulation has been limited for a while and is often linked to chronic tension or past injury.
🟣 Deep red to purple marks suggest severe restriction. Blood flow is significantly reduced and the tissue needs focused treatment.
🔴 Red to dark pink marks show moderate stagnation. Common with tight muscles, repeated strain, and stress buildup.
🟠 Light red marks indicate mild stagnation. Early restriction often caused by posture, training load, or daily stress.
🌸 Light pink marks reflect healthy circulation. Blood flow is moving properly and the tissue is functioning well.
🟡 Yellow or fading marks show the healing stage. The body is clearing the area and restoring normal circulation.
If the same area keeps showing darker marks, that is a sign the issue has not been fully resolved.
Save this so you understand what your body is telling you

Why is it worth treating your body to a massage from time to time? 👇🏻
🔬 1. Muscle Tone and Fiber Alignment
Massaged muscle:
Excessive muscle tone (tightness) decreases
Muscle fibers and connective tissues (fascia) become more organized and less “stuck together”
Muscle “gliding ability” improves (layers move more freely over each other)
Non-massaged (tight/overloaded) muscle:
Local tension is more common ❗️
Fibers and fascia can become adhered and disorganized ❗️
Stiffer, less flexible structure ❗️
🧵 2. Condition of the Connective Tissue (Fascia)
Massaged:
Better hydrated fascia
More flexible collagen fiber network
Improved mechanical energy transfer (for example during movement)
Non-massaged:
Thickened, “stickier” fascia ❗️
Micro-adhesions ❗️
Poorer force transfer → leading to more compensation by other muscles ❗️
🩸 3. Circulation and Microcirculation
Massaged muscle:
Increased blood flow
Better oxygen and nutrient supply
Faster removal of metabolic waste products (such as lactic acid)
Non-massaged:
Poorer local circulation (especially in tight areas) ❗️
Build-up of metabolic waste ❗️
Slower recovery ❗️
⚡ 4. Effects on the Nervous System
Massaged:
Reduces nervous system “overactivation”
Muscles relax more easily (parasympathetic effect)
Improves the muscle–nerve connection (control and coordination)
Non-massaged:
Protective muscle tension may persist ❗️
Poorer muscle activation (for example, one muscle overworks while another fails to engage properly) ❗️
🧩 5. Micro-Injuries and Recovery
Massaged:
Supports organized healing after micro-injuries
Less scar tissue–like adhesion formation
Non-massaged:
Greater chance of disorganized collagen build-up ❗️
“Knotted,” harder areas remain ❗️
Anyone who has experienced a truly good massage can feel the difference — not just see it in a photo. 🙂
