I am very happy and honoured to be presenting the closing conference of Phyt’Arom Grasse 2026 on September 26.

This will be something a little different: a multisensory exploration of perfume as a language between nature, science, creation and perception. Through raw materials shared by phytotherapy, aromatherapy and perfumery, I will invite the audience into the way a perfumer observes nature: understanding some of its molecular architecture, then discovering how these elements can become accords, emotions, memories and creations.

I will not be speaking as a therapist, but as a perfumer - with a long personal and professional history with plants, natural materials, and the molecules that shape our olfactory world.

🗣️ Jessica BUCHANAN is an independent perfumer based in Grasse, founder of Maison 1,000 Flowers, professor at the École Supérieure du Parfum in Grasse, and certified in Clinical Aromatherapy.

💬 This original and multisensory presentation will bring our two-day congress to a close on September 26.

Together, we will explore iconic raw materials shared by both perfumery and herbal medicine, including rose, bergamot, clary sage, frankincense, and cedarwood. Jessica BUCHANAN will offer insights into the concept of “natural” in contemporary perfumery and demonstrate how molecular knowledge deepens our understanding of the connections between science, art, and therapy.

Bookings are now open for our next two sessions of Learning Through Naturals: Fundamentals of Fragrance Formulation – Level One at the 1000 Flowers Academy in the historic centre of Grasse.

Over three immersive days, participants are introduced to the foundations of perfume creation through guided olfactory study, structured accord exercises, and the classical Jean Carles Method. Working with a curated palette of essential oils, absolutes, natural isolates, and key molecules, students begin to understand how fragrance compositions are built — from raw material study to the first steps of formulation.

Sessions are available in June and July.
