In Haute-Provence, a deep well of tradition yielded the first, momentous encounter.

Olivier Baussan was inspired by an old still and learned a savoir-faire passed down through generations.

He began distilling fresh rosemary, releasing a beautiful, revealing fragrance.

This simple gesture marked the dawn of an adventure, giving life to L’Occitane en Provence.

Our anniversary date was purposely chosen by our founder, Olivier Baussan, to ensure we always remember not to take ourselves too seriously. It is a reminder to embrace being « fools » for the nature of Provence we adore, following our wildest ideas to bring the warmth, joy, and spontaneity of the region to life.
