VALENTINES DAY NAIL ART

Here’s the perfect Valentines Day pink design using negative space. What I like about it is that it uses negative space around the cuticle so the growth is less noticeable even after a few weeks.

This design doesn’t have any hearts on it and is suitable for someone who wants to try some colour but without the typical valentines pink hearts.

After some time off from Instagram I am slowly getting back. I have finally submitted my last project work for my MSc degree and will get more time for experimenting with new nail designs 💅

By the way, can you guess this design was done with normal polish? This time I did a base coat with base gel, while for the design I used and some water decals. I only needed one coat of the Zoya nail polish and applied the decals on the dried polish✨

The final design was covered with a coat of Catrice Quick Dry and High Shine top coat to make it shinier and long lasting 👍

I wanted to try a negative space nail design for a long time already. Definitely worth a try as it takes less time than painting the whole nail🐢

HOW TO CARE FOR MATTE NAILS

Matte nails look very different and a matte top can enhance their design or help make it faded so that it doesn't look to sparkly✨

But because it is matte, its surface is more rough and small impurities can adhere more easily

However, there are some simple rules to follow to ensure your matte manicure stays perfect for longer:

🔷 always wear gloves when doing house chores, gardening or washing dishes

🔷 wash your nailsfrom stains with a small gentle brush and some hand soap every other day (you can use an old toothbrush for this)

🔷 for light colours - periodically clean the nails with a cotton pad and alcohol 70% (you can use hand sanitiser for this) or with acetone ( only if the nails were done with gel polish)

🔷 and lastly, if you would like to have you matte nails last longer and not change their colour and not stain opt for darker colours, while for lighter colours aim to redo them after about two weeks to avoid getting them stained and darken if worn longer.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR GEL POLISH NAILS LAST LONGER? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I never thought my gel polish nails would last this long, and even more, done by me. These nails have more than 5 weeks (39 days to be exact). I wasn't planning to wear the for so long as we all know this is not a good practice for a lot of reasons.

Here are some tips that helped me and I hope they will help you as well: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💮 Make sure you cure each layer properly under the UV light and make it extra 10-30 seconds for the top layer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💮 Nourish your nails by using cuticle oil everyday after shower. The cuticle oil will hydrate the cuticle itself and will help strengthen and condition your nails, which can prevent them from chipping, breaking or becoming brittle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💮 Keep your nails dry: use rubber gloves while you're washing dishes or cleaning your home. If possible avoid long hot baths/showers because your nails absorb the water and that encourages chipping. ⠀⠀⠀

After my previous nail design I decided to go for something more neutral. I guess everyone loves n**e nails, it looks so natural and calm on any nail length and you can (almost) never get bored of this colour 😍

Also, this is the longest my nails have ever been, I managed to grow them considerably (at least for me) and I am very proud! ⠀

Today is the first time of a BEFORE and AFTER transformation!

Finally I got around to do my pedicure, that was due already for some time.

My toenails are far from perfect, but I try to keep them shaped in a rounded square. This was also the first more complex hand drawn design that I've done on my toenails.

P.S. I know my toenails are a bit too long in the before picture, but as I said - it was not the top priority on my list.

Yesterday evening I attended the free art training on Instagram's page.

I attempted the first design and used gel polish instead of inks.

I spent a bit more time to blend the colours together to achieve a pastel marble/opal look.
