👋 Meet Ericka – the face behind Clear Lugs 👂💚

I thought it was about time I properly introduced myself! 😊

After taking early retirement from the NHS following 37 years of service, I decided to put my 25+ years of ear care experience to good use and set up Clear Lugs.

I now offer ear wax removal from my dedicated Clear Lugs Hub in Craibstone, as well as home visits across Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire.

I offer microsuction, water irrigation (what many still know as ear syringing) and manual removal, choosing whichever method is most appropriate on the day.

Appointments are relaxed and never rushed, with plenty of time to explain everything and help you feel at ease.

And I feel very blessed to be able to say I genuinely love what I do. 💚 I’m passionate about ear care and love helping people feel more comfortable and, of course, leave with Clear Lugs! 👂

I thought it was about time I gave you a proper look inside the new Clear Lugs Hub in Craibstone, Aberdeen (across from P&J Live).

It’s been a lot of work getting everything just how I wanted it, and although there are still a few wee finishing touches to add, I’m absolutely delighted with how it has turned out! 😊

The aim was to create somewhere private, comfortable and welcoming for anyone who would rather come to me than have a home visit.

I offer ear wax removal using water irrigation, microsuction and manual removal, choosing the most appropriate method for your ears.

👂 Did you know the colour of your earwax can sometimes give clues about how long it's been there?

Earwax naturally changes colour and consistency over time. It usually starts off lighter and softer, then gradually becomes darker, drier and harder the longer it remains in the ear canal.

This guide shows the typical ageing process of earwax.

⚠️ However, colour alone cannot diagnose an ear condition.

If you have:
• Persistent blocked ears
• Pain
• Discharge
• Bleeding
• Sudden hearing loss
• Or anything that doesn't seem right...
..it's important to have your ears assessed rather than guessing the cause.

Sometimes a little wax removal can make a BIG difference to your hearing! 👂💚

🐝 Look what I spotted today at the Clear Lugs Hub!

At first glance I thought it was a hornet, but after a bit of research I discovered it's actually a Giant Wood Wasp (Horntail).

Despite its impressive size and rather intimidating appearance, it's harmless to people. The long "tail" is actually an egg-laying tube (ovipositor) used by the female to lay eggs in dead or dying wood – it's not a stinger.

Nature is amazing! I certainly wasn't expecting to see one of these today.
