I can’t actually believe that we are more than half way through August 🩷

Where has the year gone?

2026 has been a bit of a challenge, and this in turn definitely knocked my energy, and I could feel my joie de vie slipping away.

I have written a very personal blog, straight from my soul, which I have given the title “What this year has taught me about self care”

I hope you will give it a wee read - it was mostly written for myself however I have plucked up the courage to share it because it might help others too, and it may go some way to explain why I haven’t really been present this year.

Now that the schools are finally back for many and for others, you are on your last week or so, are you are feeling a little less Mary Poppins and a little (or maybe a lot!!) like Miss Hannigan?

And to be honest, this could also read Grandparenting, Auntie”ing” or friending - you may also be back to work as a teacher and either feeling this way, or even the reverse 🙈

It's almost time!

How are you feeling about the kids going back to school?

For those of you who are all organised, I salute you 🩷

For those of you who are still trying to get the last bits of uniform, new shoes, haircuts, find school bags ...... it's not the end of the world, they can go in last year's, they can get their haircut at the weekend, I feel you 🩷

For those of you who have loved caring for grandchildren, nieces and nephews, friends children, and other children throughout the holidays and will miss them when they go back, the next holidays will be here soon 🩷

For those of you who are back to work, preparing your classroom for the arrival of your new class, another year of hard graft - we all take our hats off to you 🩷

Back to school means something different for everyone and I am here for you whatever that might be🩷

In March 2020, just before the lockdown bell tolled, I completed my Reiki II teaching and attunement with my lovely Reiki Master, Laura Clark Modern Day Medicine Woman after having completed Reiki I with her the year before.

This further unlocked the power of Reiki energy to enhance my healing on an emotional and mental level, as well as the physical body.

The experience of learning about Reiki through Laura was profound. I highly recommend her teaching. It left me with a lasting glow and a real “toolkit for life” – and that was just the very beginning.

She gave me the knowledge and the attunement but the real work happened after that, where, with her guidance, I have nurtured my own intuition and practice through the case studies and reflection.

I have had a regular Reiki practice ever since that day – this helps me feel balanced and grounded, and I have grown both emotionally and spiritually through this.

Reiki II also opened the door for me to offer this as a service to clients as a stand-alone treatment or to be included as part of my existing holistic practice.

There was so much more work involved in this, including lots of case studies and self-reflection. The grounding of my personal Reiki practice helped make this simpler to navigate. Of course, it didn’t need to take as long as this however for me, personally, I would know when the time was right.

There was something holding my back from fully embracing this, and putting this new treatment out to the world, and I recognise now, from reflection, that the only thing stopping me was my own limiting beliefs.

Many clients, who recognise the energy, say they can feel my Reiki when I am doing other treatments with them. A kind of bonus in a way, because it is always there!

These past few months, I have experienced a real shift with my Reiki.

My wish to bring Reiki into my therapy room for the benefit of others was shining.

The icing on the cake was this.

I have a client who is very spiritual and works with some very powerful energy, and when she came for her appointment some time ago, she told me that she could see me in her work, and it was time for me to come out of the shadows and complete my Reiki training so that I could share my light.

It's time to share my Reiki light. I have kept it more or less to myself for more than 6 years and now I am ready.

Today, I met with Laura, and we spent the morning going through my many case studies, discussing what I had learned and how my Reiki practice had grown from this, and she awarded me my certificate and qualification.

As many of you know, I am a qualified Crystal Healer and Sound Practitioner and it’s time to bring these out into the open again too. Combined with Reiki, these will make some lovely new treatments for your mind, body and soul and I am excited that I will reveal these in the coming weeks!

It has been a long time coming but the journey was worth it and I hope you think so too.

Seven years ago today, we emptied the contexts of this removal truck, which had travelled all the way from Orkney, into our new home in Alloa.

Little did I know then, that this would also become the home to my business a year later, moving out of a salon setting I was in, to find the perfect location.
