Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (ABC) Borough Council invites applications from professional artists, resident and working in the ABC Borough, for two ambitious six-month Artist in Residence programmes based in Banbridge and Armagh City.

These residencies, that run from October 2026 to March 2027, offer an opportunity for selected artists to deepen their practice while contributing meaningfully to the cultural life of one of Northern Ireland’s most vibrant and diverse boroughs.

Gratefully co funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, this programme reflects ABC Council’s commitment to nurturing artistic excellence, expanding access to the arts, and strengthening creative engagement across communities. The residency aims to embed two artists within the heart of the borough, its people, its stories, and its creative potential, while providing the time, space and support needed to develop new work.

The residencies will be based at F.E. McWilliam Gallery & Studio, Banbridge, and The Market Place Theatre & Arts Centre, Armagh.

Further details and the application process can be found at https://funding.armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk/Grant?id=a06Tu00000ozALqIAM

Please note you must register in order to apply.
The deadline for applications is 12noon on Friday 18th September 2026

A little poem I wrote hope you enjoy it. 💕💕

I have fallen into darkness.
One that has enveloped every part of me.
Feeling my life is spiraling out of control.
An emptiness is filling every void.
Mornings come to early.
Nights come to late.
What has the universe in store for me ?
What is my fate?.

A morning unlike no other, shines rays through my window.
It touches my skin before my eyes even open.
The warmth seeps into my body.
Penetrating deep within.
The empty voids start to glow.
A presence I haven't felt in years courses through me.
I can feel my blood circulate, my heart beating.
My ears attuned to the birds singing outside.

Opening my eyes, I stretch.
My feet hit the floor and power rushes upwards, stealing my breath.
This new day is my awakening.
My life begins again.
