I lost my hair through chemo in 2009 and it grew back very fine like baby hair.
I always thought that at least I survived but after a while I felt I needed to do something. My daughter Gracie who is also a hairdresser found Sandie. I find it hard to put into words how having hair has changed how I feel about myself. The confidence it has given me is amazing. I have also lost 3 stone to complete the package. I currently have 3 systems that I rotate a grey one a blonde one and a brown one and I absolutely love them all. What this has given me is a chance to feel and look like I did pre cancer. I was always a very confident person both in my busy career and socially as well - always out and about and with a large circle of friends and colleagues.
I travelled a lot and worked between Devon and London
Everyone said my hair was my best feature and people often commented on how dark and thick it was. I agreed with them- it was my best feature!!
Over the past few years, it got thinner and I felt it was hard to make it look good. It was dull, straggly and more of a hindrance than a crowning glory!
That led me to start losing my confidence and to gradually avoid social occasions and events. I started to get isolated and to just do the things that I really “had” to do, rather than things I “wanted” to do.
My friends said it didn’t matter but it did matter to me because I no longer felt like “me” - I looked in the mirror and just saw a stranger staring back with a sad face.
That changed when I went to see Sandie at Charley’s and, after great discussion and her invaluable advice and skills, she worked her magic on me!
I feel like the old me again and, while it may not always matter to other people, it matters to me that I am confident again and I look in that mirror and I see happy, confident John smiling back at me once again.

Nev’s Hair Journey …

For years, my thinning hair really affected my confidence. I found myself avoiding work meetings and even thinking twice about going out to events with my girlfriend because I was so self-conscious.

Making the decision to contact Sandie was one of the best decisions I’ve made. From the very first conversation right through to the finished result, she was absolutely brilliant.
