Then stylists need to factor in any chair rental costs £30 even if they do 2 it’s £15 but most likely when doing corrections like this you’ll be the only client they have that day.

All other business costs need factoring in. Cost of tools… My scissors were over £600 🙈 that was just one of them!! Straightners £110, Dryer £180, Trolley £90, Gowns & Towels, Washing costs, Insurance, Accountants… the list goes on.

But most of all an hourly rate. The national minimum wage in the UK is £9.50 per hour.

This correction is book out 6 hours = £57 if your 17 years experience only allows you to earn that.

This would total £170.96 before business costs were taken into consideration with the stylist earning MINIMUM WAGE 😢

I only charged this client £180. So with my business costs added in I worked for less than NMW. It seems like an awful lot but when it’s broken down like this you understand why it is this much…

Next time your stylist implements a price rise please think about this post & how much it actually costs the stylist to do your hair. If your looking for ‘Mates Rates’ or discounts this means the stylist is working at a loss 😢

📣 The Prime Minister has confirmed that from 4am on Tuesday 30 November, face coverings will be mandatory in shops and on public transport, including hairdressers.
