One of the biggest concerns clients have before injectable treatments is, “Will I bruise?”

The simple answer is… it’s always a possibility.

Your face is home to an incredible network of arteries, veins and thousands of tiny capillaries. Although your practitioner has an in-depth understanding of facial anatomy and uses techniques to minimise risk, those tiny blood vessels can’t all be seen through the skin.

If a needle or cannula catches one of these delicate vessels, a bruise can occur. It’s a normal response and doesn’t automatically mean anything has gone wrong.

🩵 Factors that can make bruising more likely include:
• Naturally fragile capillaries
• Blood-thinning medication (only stop medication if advised by your doctor)
• Fish oils, vitamin E and certain herbal supplements
• Alcohol before your appointment
• Strenuous exercise immediately after treatment

✨ My top tip?
Don’t schedule injectable treatments a day or two before a wedding, holiday, photoshoot or any important event. While some clients don’t bruise at all, others can experience bruising that takes several days or occasionally up to two weeks to fully resolve.

Every face is different, and every healing journey is unique. Bruising is simply one of the known risks of injectables, and I’d always rather educate you honestly than promise something no practitioner can guarantee.
