Hi, I'm Cath and I am an acupuncturist based in Bovey Tracey, Devon. I have over 10 years experience specialising in Ear (Auricular) Acupuncture. Although it may seem unusual to have pins stuck in your ears, I have a great belief in the power of this form of acupuncture and it is a great alternative to drug treatment. Over my career I have seen success (sometimes extraordinary success) with a rang
e of ailments including:
• Menopause Symptoms including hot flushes and night sweats
• Anxiety and Stress
• Grief Management
• Low Self Esteem
• Smoking Cessation
• Dry Mouth
What exactly is auricular acupuncture? The ear is an incredible microsystem which has connections throughout the nervous system so, using Auricular acupuncture, we are able to help issues throughout the whole body. In an acupuncture session fine, sterile needles are inserted into specific points in the outer ear. The needles are inserted to a very shallow depth and remain in the ear for 30-40 minutes. Most people find this a very relaxing and often a completely painless experience. The treatment is gentle and has a balancing effect on the body, requires no special equipment such as couches and can be administered easily whilst a patient is seated and fully clothed, which makes it particularly suited to having treatment at home. Ear acupuncture has no negative side effects and is suitable for treating groups as well as individuals. Treatments
Many people find the effects of the treatment are cumulative so although a person may feel the benefit of one treatment I would strongly recommend staring with a course of six sessions. I am based in Bovey Tracey, Devon and will do home visits to either individuals or groups. Groups
Many of my patients find great benefit from having ear acupuncture in a group. Not only does is make it cheaper (see below) but talking about problems that you find difficult to share with loved ones can be a real benefit too. So, if you are able to get a friend or two together it can be a great way to get much needed treatment, unwind and put the world to rights all at the same time! Costs
£50 One to One
£35 Group of Two per head
£30 Group of Three per head

Save! (eg cost for six individual sessions is £300 but if you book six in advance you only pay £250.00). A little nervous? It’s true, I stick sharp objects into people for a living but contrary to popular belief this is not for pleasure and, fortunately for my patients, I actually really hate causing pain. Most people feel a little apprehensive before the first session but almost everyone comes back for more! If you fancy trying ear acuputure but are not sure then don’t hesitate to call me for a chat about it first. More about me
In 2010 completed a BA (Hons) Degree in Traditional Acupuncture and gained my licence to practice before specialising with a course in Auricular(Ear) Acupuncture. I then set up my private practice alongside which, for the last 10 years, I have been working at Force Cancer Charity in Exeter, running the acupuncture groups where I use ear acupuncture to help treat the side effects of some cancer treatments including hot flushes, night sweats and dry mouth. I have also found the acupuncture helps people manage the anxiety that surrounds cancer and patients have also found it useful to help with fatigue management. I particular enjoy treating groups. I find many people hold fears and worries but talking to a stranger or a group of strangers is easier than talking to friends and family. I love helping people and over the years have found people genuinely enjoy the combination of the ear acupuncture and talking. Many find they have a reduction in symptoms but also people say they just feel better for the treatment but can't really say exactly why! I’m based near Bovey Tracey where I am slowly renovating my house and when I am not up to my ears in DIY or sticking pins other people’s ears I love to walk the moors and when the weather is good enough enjoy my new hobby of paddle boarding.
