“Hyaluronic acid filler” describes the main ingredient, but it doesn’t mean every product is the same. Different dermal fillers are engineered with different properties, which influence how they behave and integrate.

Some are firmer and can provide more structural support or projection. Others are softer and more flexible, which can be useful in areas where natural movement is important. So when your injector chooses a filler, it isn't just a case of picking a brand, they have to consider the anatomy, the depth of placement, the amount of support required and the result being planned.

There are also technical differences between products, including elasticity, viscosity and cohesivity. These properties affect how a hyaluronic acid gel responds to pressure, movement and the surrounding tissue.

The same filler isn't appropriate for every area of the face, and knowing why a product is adequate for a particular objective is an important part of the clinical decision-making process.
