There’s something so special about the simplest little adventures. 🌊🪨

A trip to one of our favourite beaches, throwing pebbles into the sea, choosing a few treasures to take to Granny’s… and then turning them into the most beautiful rainbow of colours.

I love watching his little imagination come to life proof that you really don’t need much to make beautiful memories.

It’s these ordinary moments that become the ones we remember.

Before 8:40am… and I’ve already done ALL this 🙈😂☀️

Vacuuming done ✔️
Washing out ✔️
Breakfast made ✔️
Breakfast eaten ✔️😂

Just trying to get as much done as possible before the sun decides it’s time to turn the house into a sauna! 🥵☀️

Sometimes all it takes is a special occasion to step outside your comfort zone…

She came in wanting something completely different from her usual colours, and with a Disney cruise with her daughter coming up, we had the perfect excuse to have some fun! 🛳️✨

We went for soft blue + pink, added a purple magnetic effect and finished with a little star ⭐️

It was nothing she’d ever chosen before but she was SO happy with them!

And honestly? I love that.

Sometimes you just need that little push to try something new. 💅

💬 Would you step outside your usual nail colours for a special holiday?

Every day seems to bring something a little different with Grandma June at the moment.

Today she was telling me stories about things that never actually happened, but to her they were completely real. One minute she knew exactly what was going on and the next she had forgotten. It can be incredibly difficult to navigate, and I have to admit I often leave feeling exhausted.

She’s started to enjoying the little things again tea and toast, a little bit of pudding, and of course, Eric’s pink biscuits.

And then there was one little moment that melted my heart. Through all the confusion, she remembered Eric’s pink biscuit. She wanted to make sure he had it, so I wrapped it in a napkin and took it home. Watching him unwrap it and enjoy every crumb was a reminder that, even when conversations become difficult, some things she still remembers.

Life really doesn’t prepare you for this stage. Grandma has been in bed for the past few weeks, and we simply don’t know how long this part of her journey will last. So we’re taking each day as it comes.

What I do know, and what gives me so much comfort, is that she is being cared for to the highest standard. The team at Katherine House are incredible. Their kindness, patience and care for Grandma and the way they support us as a family means more than I could ever explain.

Seeing the smile on Grandma’s face when they’re looking after her gives me such reassurance that she is exactly where she needs to be. We really are unbelievably lucky.

Every day is different. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but today she was cared for, she was comfortable, and there were still little moments of happiness to hold onto.

Turns out… my husband was right. AGAIN.

When he first told me he was getting a fish tank for the garden, I was probably less than impressed with the idea.

Fast forward to THREE fish tanks and this absolutely massive one becoming the centrepiece of the garden… and I had to eat my words!

Because honestly? I LOVE it.

It’s become my husband’s pride and joy, and he maintains it every single day.

And for me, it’s become this little peaceful escape.

Life is BUSY. Sometimes I need to stop, sit down, watch the fish swimming around and just… breathe.

OK …I owe facial oils an apology!

I’d avoided using oil on my skin for YEARS because I genuinely thought:

❌ It would feel greasy
❌ It would sit on my skin

4:30am wake-up calls hit differently when there are hot air balloons involved! 🎈🥹

This morning we headed to the Bristol Balloon Fiesta for the final day, and WOW… what a morning.

Breakfast picnic + balloons taking off above our heads + rides + a very cheeky sugar doughnut = one very happy little boy. ❤️

But my favourite moment?

Taking Eric on the Gallagher for the first time. I have such special memories of going on them myself as a child, so seeing him enjoy it just as much was one of those “I’ll remember this forever” moments. 🥹

And naturally, Ryan and I brought our Farmasi coffee with benefits along for the adventure. ☕️Because if you’re getting up at 4:30am, coffee is absolutely coming with you!

I genuinely can’t believe my brows are growing back!

For around 10 years I just accepted that the gaps from over-plucking in my teens would never fill in. (If only teenage me had listened! 😂)

Another wonderful summer party at Katherine House! 🏖️

This is the fourth one we’ve attended, and every year we’re reminded just how much love, care and effort goes into making these events so special.

This year felt a little different, as Grandma June is now spending her days resting in bed, so she couldn’t be with us. We missed her, but it was lovely to spend time with everyone and see residents, families and staff enjoying the entertainment together. From the sea shanty band and hula hoop performer to the animals, games and all the smiles, it really was a fantastic afternoon.

A heartfelt thank you to every member of staff. Not only do you organise such amazing events, but you continue caring for residents with such kindness and compassion at the same time. It doesn’t go unnoticed, and we’re so grateful for everything you do. 💛
