Your body usually gives you plenty of warning before it refuses to cooperate.
Just like that shoulder you keep rolling, the back pain you’ve decided is normal, the way you need to ease yourself out of bed, your neck that now requires your entire body to turn with it.
You don’t need to wait until it starts affecting your work, training or sleep.
How many of these have you said?

Please join me in welcoming Martha to the team 💕
We first met Martha around a month ago, and immediately knew we needed her on the team!
Her warmth, enthusiasm, passion and brightness drew us in, and we knew she was exactly what the team needed ✨
We’ve been busy behind the scenes showing her the Elbow way and we’re excited to say that Martha’s diary is open and ready!
Keep reading to learn more about her:
“I’m a qualified Sports Massage Therapist with additional training in Traditional Thai Yoga Massage and Chinese Tuina Massage (sometimes described as acupuncture without the needles!).
I work with a wide range of clients, from athletes and active individuals recovering from injuries to people experiencing aches, pains and tension from the grind of modern day life.
No matter what your reason for seeking treatment is, my priority is to make sure you feel listened to and understood.
I take a holistic approach to both understanding the root cause of your symptoms and creating a treatment plan that is tailored to your needs.
Having trained in a variety of massage disciplines, I draw on a range of techniques to provide tailored and effective treatments. Sessions may include deep- tissue massage, myofascial release, soft- tissue release, trigger -point therapy, assisted stretching, and acupressure techniques.
Following each treatment, you’ll receive personalised aftercare advice to help you get the most from your session and support your recovery between sessions.
My aim is to provide a welcoming, communicative, and calming space where we can work together to reduce discomfort, improve mobility, and help you get back to doing the things you enjoy most.”

Loves, summer has arrived! ☀️
And it has arrived FAST! It can be easy to get caught up in the excitement, but there are some precautions we need you to take in order to ensure a safe and comfortable massage!
- Hydrate in the hours before AND after, not just a chug as you’re walking in, not just a quick sip when you get back in the car, but consistently.
- Use SPF on your skin. We can’t massage broken, burnt or blistering skin. It’s also very unpleasant on peeling skin. We may have to avoid areas of your body if your skin is burnt, blistered, or heavily peeling.
- Use a sun hat! And take regular breaks from the sun. We cannot massage you if you’re suffering from sun stroke.
- Understand how your medication is affected by the heat, most commonly SSRI’s in medication.
Take care, enjoy the sun, and we can’t wait to see you soon!

Never heard your tummy rumble as loud as it does during a massage? 🌀
A surprising number of people are ✨appalled✨ at their vocal stomach during a session, but the thing is, your tummy rumbling is a HUGE green flag for everyone involved.
…and if ours starts to rumble back? Oh my, we’ve hit the jackpot!
Let us explain 😂
Massage can help your nervous system move into a relaxed state, from ‘fight or flight’ (which most of us are in, most of the time, thanks to modern life..!) to ‘rest and digest.’
The fact we were able to give you the opportunity, environment, and safety in our presence for your nervous system to shift is such a huge accolade for us!
Plus if our tummies start rumbling back, it means we’re right there with you. Everyone’s resting. Everyone’s digesting. We’re all in sync.
Of course, there is always just hunger too!
But either way, rumble away people!

People talk about muscle knots like therapists are untangling headphone wires under the skin 😭
In reality, “knot” is just a non-medical term people use to describe areas that feel tight, tender, stiff, sensitive, or restricted.
Sometimes that area may involve a trigger point, which is where certain muscle fibres are thought to stay contracted longer than they should. Other times it may simply be tension, irritation, overload, stress, or the nervous system becoming protective.
That’s why treatment isn’t always about using more pressure.
More force doesn’t automatically mean better results, and sometimes the body responds better when the tissue and nervous system feel safe enough to relax instead of being aggressively attacked.
Also yes… the area between your shoulder blade and neck is still the reigning champion of “knots” as this is a common area for stress to be held, as well as modern life giving them a hard time. Computer work, phone use, and driving just to name a few are really hard on our shoulders and upper back.

This is one people overthink way more than they need to.
There’s no “right outfit” for a massage. You don’t need to show up in gym gear or anything specific.
Comfort is the priority.
The only practical thing to keep in mind is access. If we’re working on legs, shorts make things easier. If not, we’ll work around what you’re wearing.
And just to be clear, you’ll always be appropriately covered.
Turn up in whatever you feel comfortable in and we’ll handle the rest.

A lot of people apologise for talking during a session, but you don’t need to.
For some people, that hour is the first time they’ve slowed down all day. Talking is just part of that, and a way to offload, process, or just fill the space while your body starts to relax.
Others go completely quiet, and that works just as well.
There isn’t a “right” way to be on the table. The goal is that you leave feeling better than when you came in, and that can look different for everyone.
There’s no pressure either way 💛
