What a weekend! 🏇✨

A huge thank you to everyone who made this year’s polo tournament such a fantastic event. We’re incredibly grateful to CNPC | Polo & Equestrian Club for once again hosting us, to everyone involved with the incredible Argentine Asado, and to all those who helped behind the scenes to make the weekend such a success.

And of course… a very happy 60th to the big guy, Alex! 🎉 Safe to say the celebrations ended exactly as they should… with cake! 🍰😂 (Swipe to the end!)

Some fun facts about your favourite local Cambridge hairdressers ✂️

1. Philip Helliar opened in Cambridge in 1975 making this year our 50th year in business!! Philip also had a business partner at the time, Stephen, who ran another salon in St Ives. They parted ways in 1997.
2. Philip trained Alex, John and Matthew himself and they took over the business from him when he retired in 2002.
3. The original salon was a few doors down at number 5 Bene’t Street (now Cambridge Contemporary Arts) until 1990 when it moved to number 9 Bene’t Street.
4. The salon is situated on a very historic street. Opposite Cambridges oldest building, the tower of (built in the 11th century!!!) Next door to the where DNA was discovered & RAF airmen signed their names on the ceiling during WW2.
5. The salon sponsors a polo tournament at , where we supply prizes to the competitors and enjoy a lovely weekend supporting a local polo club.
6. Leading on from that, 2 of the stylists, Alex & Dan have played polo for serval years.
7. The salon has 5 stylists who have been working there 30+ years! Proof that they truly are passionate about their jobs and clients.

Last weekend we didn’t only celebrate the Philip Helliar Tournament, we also had a celebration of 50yrs of Philip Helliar Ltd! I know what you’re thinking, where has the time gone? Great weather, great polo, great laughter with friends and reminiscing. Cheers to half a century 🥂
