The sound. The rhythm. The feeling that, for a moment, there is absolutely nowhere else I need to be.
I have spent a lot of this holiday thinking about rest. not as something we earn when everything else is finished, but as something we need along the way.
Because there will always be another email.
Another job.
Another thing we could be doing.
Sometimes the most productive thing we can do is simply stop. 🌊
Rest is not a luxury. It is a necessity.

Tonight, we stopped and looked up. ✨
Watching the solar eclipse from the beach here in the French Basque Country was one of those moments I know I will remember for a very long time.
Not only because of what was happening above us, but because of who I was sharing it with.
Family and close friends we are lucky enough to be spending this holiday with. 🤍
The sea. The evening light. Everyone looking towards the same sky. And for a little while, nothing else really mattered.
It felt like such a reminder that some of life’s most extraordinary moments ask nothing of us other than to be present enough to notice them.
No rushing. No doing. Just being.
And perhaps that is what rest can look like too.
A moment of wonder.
A moment of connection.
A moment you wish you could bottle and keep. ✨

A quiet moment by the pool with my daughter Cecilia, a few of our Ritual of Rest favourites, and absolutely nowhere we needed to be.
We talk a lot at Lykke & Lumen about creating small rituals of rest, but sometimes rest is much simpler than that.
Sunshine on your skin.
Bare feet in the water.
Time with the people you love.
And allowing yourself to simply be where you are.
These slower days in the French Basque Country feel like such a lovely reminder of everything that sits at the heart of Lykke & Lumen.
Because wellbeing does not always need to be something we do. Sometimes it is found in the moments we give ourselves permission to enjoy.
Rest is not a luxury. It is a necessity. 🤍

Someone asked me today, "How do you decide what products to create?"
It made me stop and think because my answer has never really changed.
I don't start by asking, "What should I launch next?"
I start by asking, "How do I want someone to feel?"
Every product begins with a feeling.
Only then do I think about what I can create to help someone experience that feeling in their everyday life.
That's why every product at Lykke & Lumen has a purpose.
It's also why I don't rush new launches.
Every product has to earn its place and support your wellbeing in some way.

The Story Behind Our Candles 🤍
You've been asking... so here's a little update. 🤍
What many people don't know is that Lykke & Lumen actually began with candles. It's quite ironic that the very first products I imagined have taken the longest to bring to life.
Creating this collection has been a true labour of love. Every decision has been made with care, from developing the fragrances and finding the right partners, to testing waxes, wooden wicks and vessels until everything feels exactly right.
At Lykke & Lumen, we consciously don't rush anything.
It takes the time it takes.
I'd always rather wait a little longer than launch something I'm not completely proud of.
Thank you for being so patient, for asking about the candles, and for following this journey with me. Your encouragement means more than you know.
We're getting very close now... and I can't wait to share what's coming next. 🤍

Can I let you in on a couple of little secrets? 🤍
One of the joys of following a small business is that you get to see things before almost anyone else.
So today, I wanted to share a few behind-the-scenes moments with you.
The first is something you'll start noticing over the coming weeks. While our name will always remain Lykke & Lumen, we've added Cambridge to our branding. It's a small change, but one that means a great deal to us. Cambridge is where this journey began, where every product is thoughtfully developed, and where Guillaume and I continue to build the brand we've dreamed of creating.
And because you're here, I have one more little secret...
We're quietly working on the next addition to our Ritual of Rest collection: our very first Collagen Comfort Cleansing Balm, created for stressed skin. It's still in development, so you're officially among the very first people to know. I can't wait to share more with you over the coming months.
Alongside these exciting developments, this week has been filled with finalising our candle packaging, working closely with suppliers, preparing for tomorrow's market, and continuing conversations with carefully selected independent boutiques as we thoughtfully grow our retail partnerships.
One of the things that has made me feel good this week is being able to support two wonderful fundraising initiatives by donating Lykke & Lumen wellbeing gift sets. One will help raise funds for the WIBN Ely Summer Evening Fundraiser in aid of Ely Foodbank, and the other will support WIBN Suffolk's campaign raising money for St Nicholas Hospice Care. Being able to give back to our community has always been an important part of the brand we want to build.
Some weeks are filled with photographs and reels.
Other weeks are about quietly laying foundations.
Every conversation, every product refinement, every supplier meeting and every partnership helps shape the future of Lykke & Lumen.

✨ Episode 7: What It's Really Like Building a Small Business
People often see the finished brand.
The products.
The website.
The market stalls.
The social media posts.
What they don't always see are the many hats behind the scenes.
The packing.
The planning.
The content creation.
The supplier calls.
The website updates.
The networking.
The admin.
And yes... a lot of coffee. ☕🤍
Building Lykke & Lumen has been one of the biggest challenges I've ever taken on, but also one of the most rewarding.
There are still days when I feel like I'm learning as I go, but that's part of the journey.
To everyone who has followed along, purchased a product, visited a market, shared a post, left a review or simply cheered me on from the sidelines - thank you.
Your support means more than you know and is helping turn a dream into reality. 🤍
From Recovery to Reality 🤍 People often see a finished brand and assume it happened quickly.
Trust me, building a brand is not quick.
The truth is, Lykke & Lumen was 12 months in the making before we launched.
What started with burnout and asking myself, “What do I want to do next?” gradually became something much bigger.
Months of research.
Product development.
Testing.
Learning.
Finding the right British manufacturing partners.
Building a website.
Designing packaging.
And more cups of coffee than I can count. ☕🤍
There were moments when it felt exciting and moments when it felt completely overwhelming, but I kept coming back to the same belief:
If I could create products that helped people pause, rest and reset, then it would be worth it.
Looking back, I’m so grateful I took the leap.
