60 years ago today, this clock stopped ticking at 9:13am on 21st October 1966, in Aberfan, when a waste tip from a nearby colliery slid down the mountainside and into the village below.

The incident killed 144 people, 116 of which were children as the tip engulfed Pantglas Junior School and 19 houses.
